Katy High School football star kicked off team, now suing to be reinstated
KATY – A star quarterback for Katy High School, who made headlines last year for being caught on camera using a racial slur, is once again off the football team. Now, he is suing Katy ISD to be reinstated. The 19-year-old student was suspended in September after a Katy ISD police and a K-9 found a substance they believed to be marijuana in Bronson’s vehicle during a search of the Katy H.S. But in a letter dated September 28, less than two weeks after the incident, the Katy ISD superintendent Dr. Ken Gregorski appeared to clear McClelland of any wrongdoing. A spokesperson for Katy ISD would not answer questions about the case.

HOUSTON – The mother of Maliyah Bass and her boyfriend are in custody and charged in connection with the death of the 2-year-old, Houston police said Tuesday. Court documents said the couple killed Maliyah and put her body in a storm drain, which was later recovered from Brays Bayou. On Aug. 22, Thompson and Ervin told reporters that Ervin left Maliyah alone for 5 minutes at a neighborhood playground while she was cooking. “The defendant and her boyfriend ... injured and killed the two-year-old complainant," said a court worker during Thompson’s probable cause court hearing. In 2019, Quanell X helped to bring 4-year-old Maleah Davis' body from Arkansas back to Houston.

2-year-old Maliyah Bass to be honored at funeral in Dallas
DALLAS, Texas – Maliyah Bass, the missing 2-year-old who was found dead in Brays Bayou, will be laid to rest Friday in Dallas. According to the Sandra Clark Funeral Home, a service for the toddler will start at noon after which she will be buried at the Lincoln Memorial Cemetery. Maliyah was reported missing out of southwest Houston on Aug. 22, and her body was found by a jogger the following day, according to authorities. “…We need justice for this family.”Maliyah’s grandmother, Rosalie Jimerson, said she and her granddaughter had a social bond. And, I would be like, ‘Hi, my Tootie.’ I’ll never forget that,” she said.

Quanell X met with Maliyah’s mother and boyfriend inside their apartment and said the couple’s story left him with a lot of questions. The Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences said they are still working to positively identify the child’s body, though police say it’s a high probability it is Maliyah’s body.

Search for missing man with mental disability who was last seen boarding Greyhound from Houston to Louisiana
HOUSTON The niece of a missing elderly man with a mental disability canvassed the area surrounding a bus station near downtown Houston Wednesday, where he was last seen. Stewarts niece, Cassandra Stewart, said she drove her uncle to the Greyhound bus terminal, located at 2121 S. Main in Midtown. The two stops that were made up to Alexandria, Louisiana, he never made it off the bus, Quanell X said. Thats why we believe whatever happened to him, happened right here in Houston and somebody took his ticket, Quanell X said. In a press conference with activist Quanell X, family members said they wanted the body camera footage of the fatal shooting to be released to the public. After reviewing the footage, Quanell X and Edison’s family held a press conference. “Don’t give them an excuse to shoot you," Quanell X said. “From what I witnessed, HPD, they did fire, but not like the Pasadena Police Department did,” Quanell X said.
Family of Davion Edison requests HPD to release body camera video of deadly shooting
“I just want justice that I know I’ve been fighting for since December 30, 2019,” said Williams Linzer. During the Justice or Death Rally Wednesday, activist Quanell X demanded police departments release body camera videos after officer-involved shootings. The issue isn’t entirely cut and dry because some families don’t want the video released. Williams Linzer said police told her the video could not be released because the incident was still under investigation. “I want to see it myself, and I want it released to everyone,” Williams Linzer said.

Elderly man shot during robbery calls to end violence in southeast Houston neighborhood
HOUSTON – Arthur Cash, 71, says he’s thankful to be alive after being shot just outside his home located in the 3000 block of Dacca Drive. “He was going back between the truck and he turned around and shot me,” Cash said. The gunman shot Cash in the hip and stole $1,900 in rent money and a few prescription pills“I think it’s wrong for them to go around shooting elderly people. He said this was the second time an elderly person had been targeted in the community in recent weeks. “It’s a shame that we have to live in an age where we have to live like this,” Cash said.
