Calicut, a standout safety who played for North Shore Senior High School in 2024, had been listed as a “hard commit” to the University of Georgia since June 2025.
He was rated as a four-star recruit by 247Sports at the time but is now listed as a three-star prospect.
Less than a month after committing to Georgia, Calicut was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon for his alleged role in a roadway shooting on July 6, 2025.
Civil rights activist Quanell X, who spoke on Calicut’s behalf, said, “[Calicut] was a victim that night, not a criminal.”

Isaiah Phillip, a North Shore football teammate, was also alleged to have been involved. However, he was killed in an unrelated shooting before charges were filed.
Calicut left the North Shore football program and transferred to a local alternative school ahead of his senior season. He did not play football in 2025.
KPRC 2 reached out to the University of Georgia at the time, but the school did not respond.
In January 2026, court records revealed that the charges against Calicut had been dismissed. When asked about Calicut’s football future at the time, Quanell X said, “He will be leaving for Georgia soon.”
Instead, Calicut ultimately signed with Georgia Southern, signaling a final pivot in a recruitment journey that took several dramatic turns.
