The family of a man shot and killed in the Katy area on Christmas Eve is asking for the publicโs help in identifying the suspects involved, according to the Harris County Sheriffโs Homicide Division.

Harris County, Texas โ President Joe Biden announced his nomination of Harris County Sheriff, Ed Gonzalez, as the new director of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement under the Department of Homeland Security in a news release last week. Since his election as sheriff of Harris County in 2016, Gonzalez has been a vocal opponent of ICE immigration policies publicly calling for changes in the way the organization handles immigration issues. Not others who are not threats.โDuring his two terms as sheriff, Gonzalez ended a program in place well before his election which trained a handful of Harris County deputies to determine the immigration status of prisoners. If confirmed, Gonzalez would be the first official director of ICE since Sarah Saldaรฑa stepped down in January of 2017. In addition, if Gonzalez is confirmed for his new position as Director of ICE, an acting sheriff for Harris County would be selected by the Commissioners Court.

HOUSTON โ A driver is dead after being ejected from a vehicle on Mesa Drive early Saturday, Harris County Sheriffโs deputies said. The victim was driving northbound in the 2100 block of Mesa Drive at about 1:05 a.m. He failed to maintain a single lane and negotiate a curve in the roadway, deputies said. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The accident is under investigation by the Harris County Sheriffโs Office Vehicular Crimes Division.

Democrat Ed Gonzalez will serve a second term as Harris County Sheriff after a victory over Republican candidate and former deputy constable Joe Danna. Gonzalez captured 900,980 votes (57.36 percent), while Danna received 669,877 votes (42.64 percent). The 51-year-old former police officer and Houston city councilman was heavily favored against Danna, who previously ran for constable in Precinct 1, where he was removed from his job as a deputy constable in 2012. Gonzalez oversees some 4,600 employees, the county jail, and nearly 1,800 square miles, including unincorporated Harris County and 41 municipalities. To limit the risk of a COVID-19 outbreak, Gonzalez sought the โcompassionate releaseโ of inmates charged with misdemeanors; however, a judge halted the program.

At 2:56 p.m. Monday, Gonzalez tweeted that deputies were en route to the 14400 block of Wildwood Springs Lane where the man and woman were pronounced dead. @HCSOTexas Investigators are enroute to a possible murder-suicide at the 14400 block of Wildwood Springs Ln in NE Harris County. Two adults, a male and female, have been pronounced deceased at the scene. As of 4:30 p.m., law enforcement officials were waiting for the medical examinerโs office to arrive as investigations continue.
Woman dies in drive-by shooting while inside home in NW Harris County, deputies say
HOUSTON โ Harris County Sheriffโs deputies said they are investigating a shooting that left a woman dead in a home in northwest Harris County. Deputies said the shooting happened in the 11220 block of Timber Crest around 11:10 p.m. Dozens of shell casings from a 9mm, shotgun and carbine were found from the street to the front yard, investigators said. Deputies said a motorcycle that appeared to have been ditched was located in the street outside of the residence. A shotgun was found in the grass near the motorcycle, deputies said.

Out of the 123,723 early and absentee votes for the Democratic Primary, Gonzales received 91,729 of the votes ahead of Jerome Moore who received 23,498 votes. Harry Zamora coming in third place with 8,496 votes. Joe Danna is taking the lead in the Republican Primary with 50,397 of the 92,016 early and absentee votes cast while Paul Day received 23,455 votes and Randy Rush at 18,164 votes. The winners of the Democratic and Republican Primaries will face off in November for the position of Harris County Sheriff.
