Suspect identified, charged in shooting death of man in Channelview

CHANNELVIEW, Texas – A suspect has now been identified in a shooting that killed a man in Channelview on May 24.

According to Harris County Sheriff’s deputies, they responded to a call at a home on Avenue C and Avenue D at 7:30 on Friday evening.

Investigators said that two men go into an argument earlier in the day.

The suspect reportedly returned later in the day and after the two got into another argument it escalated into gunfire, killing Gilbert Rubalcava.

It’s unclear how many shots were fired.

Upon arrival at the residence, deputies said they found Rubalcava unresponsive in the front yard of the home. He was pronounced deceased due to injuries sustained in the shooting.

Sheriff’s deputies said the suspect ran away.

The HCSO plans to release additional information on the suspect this weekend now that he’s been identified.
