Instead of telling the faculty and staff in Galena Park Independent School District what a great job they’ve done, the school board of trustees and superintendent decided to show them. As a token of their appreciation for their dedication and commitment during the pandemic, trustees approved the administration’s recommendation at Monday’s board meeting. We've seen the state championship rings. Now, Galena Park ISD AD Vivian Dancy is happy to unveil North Shore and Galena Park's new-and-improved field turf. VYPE dropped by the #Eastside school as the district stadium was given a face-lift, which will drastically lower the heat coming off the playing surface and have more "give" upon contact. Kudos to Dancy and the GPISD Board for being concerned about their students' safety.

City officials said the curfew will be effective Saturday from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. after County Judge Lina Hidalgo upgraded the countys COVID-19 public threat level from significant to severe as the virus outbreak worsens. Lets remember that our collective fight against COVID-19 is one in which we mustnt underestimate. Houston residents were encouraged to continue boiling water before consuming it Friday morning as repairs continued on a water main break that left parts of the city without tap water and flooded part of the East Loop. In lieu of boiling, individuals may purchase bottled water or obtain water from some other suitable source for drinking water or human consumption purposes. Mayra Falcon-Medellin, 38, was found dead by Galena Park Police Department officers and Harris County Sheriffs Office deputies around 4 a.m. inside her home in the 1700 block of Danaway Street. He is currently in jail and prosecutors have filed a motion for high bond. Medellins death is the fourth linked to intimate partner violence by authorities in Harris County so far in 2019. Driver dies after 18-wheeler plummets 150 feet from Ship Channel bridge
The driver of an 18-wheeler that fell 150 feet from the Ship Channel bridge Wednesday died as rescuers were working to free him from the trucks cab, police said. Houston police said a witness reported that a smaller vehicle cut the tractor-trailer off and the truck driver veered to avoid a crash. The driver of the smaller vehicle stayed at the scene and is being interviewed by investigators, police said. Also, because oil from the truck did run onto our property, we have deployed boom to prevent oil from going into the Ship Channel. We extend our heartfelt condolences to the family of the driver of the truck.
