An inmate who had been in the Harris County Jail on a capital murder charge since 2022 is now back in custody after being mistakenly released from the jail on Thursday.

KATY—Ridge Point wanted Tompkins.

KATY—Last season was disappointing for Tompkins’ girls soccer team. The Falcons, accustomed to dominant runs to the state tournament, fell in the area round of the playoffs.

KATY—A year removed from the best season in program history, Tompkins’ baseball players and coaches feel they’re even better this year.

KATY—Late during Tuesday’s Class 6A Region III quarterfinal against Tompkins, Dulles senior guard Peyton Overton addressed her teammates.

KATY—Thirty-eight games into the season, Tompkins’ girls basketball team is still searching for its identity. The defense is leaky. The offense is discombobulated.

KATY—Tompkins’ girls basketball team proved Tuesday night it is more than a one-girl show.

KATY—It’s not often that Tompkins’ girls basketball players don’t adhere to coach Tamatha Ray’s game-plan. But a lack of focus recently led to a pair of district losses and forced the defending back-to-back 19-6A champs to regroup.

HOUSTON - The afternoon slate of games did not disappoint and one of those included the North Shore vs Tompkins showdown.

KATY—The only thing that could stop Tompkins sophomore Wyatt Young on Thursday night was dehydration. And even that didn’t last long.

KATY—As talented as Ridge Point is, and the talent is indeed substantial, it was the Panthers’ heart and depth that stole the show in a 3-0 sweep of Tompkins in their Region III-6A quarterfinal Monday evening at the Merrell Center.

KATY — Though Katy's football players would like to say that Friday's District 19-6A showdown against heated rival Tompkins was just another game, it wasn't.

KATY — Tompkins sophomore running back Caleb Blocker is a longtime admirer of former Seattle Seahawks star Marshawn Lynch.

Long before the start of the high school volleyball season, even before preseason training in early August, Tompkins players would joke around with each other about how good they expected to be this season. How dominant they'd be.

KATY — In a Week 2 53-43 win at Clear Springs, Tompkins showed it can win a game on its offensive skill. On Saturday, however, the Falcons got back to who they are, a physical, playmaking defensive-minded team.

The games that count... start now.

It wasn't long ago that Tompkins senior Sean DuBose Jr. started to see that college football could be part of his future if he so desired.

Last season, Cole Francis, then a junior, spent his Thursdays quarterbacking Tompkins' junior varsity to an eventual district championship. Then he'd spend his Fridays with the varsity, going through pregame, warmups and the whole gameday experience.

Tompkins senior guard Brian "BB" Knight II has seemingly always had "it." Athleticism. Speed. Length. Height. Skill.

The 41st Annual UIL High School Awards Dinner is scheduled for 7 p.m., January, 20th at the Bayou City Event Center. The gala will name the Greater Houston Offensive High School Player of the Year and the Defensive High School Player of the Year, as well as the Coach of the Year. This time around, the Falcons get defending Class 6A State Champion North Shore. North Shore pounced on undefeated Pearland Dawson on Thursday night, racing out to a 24-0 halftime lead and eventual 38-7 victory for the Mustangs. On Christmas Eve day, North Shore (12-0) will face Katy Tompkins (10-0) at Legacy Stadium with kickoff slated for 1 p.m. Last year they reached the State Quarterfinals, where they fell to North Shore in a wild 76-49 game. Westfield won the meeting 42-24 moving on to face the winner of Skyline and back-to-back state runner-up Duncanville next week.

Is Ridge Point getting slept on? The Panthers finished second in district a year ago but did fall in the first round to a scrappy Tompkins squad. The backcourt will be run by Caleb Hill and Reggie Prudhomme Jr., while Matthew Lewis is a sweet shooter from the outside.
