Seattle scored three times in the final 15 minutes of regulation and stoppage time to stun Minnesota and claim the Western Conference championship for the fourth time in the past five seasons. Will Bruin scored in the 75th minute to pull Seattle within 2-1 and set the stage for the wild final moments when the Sounders scored twice off corner kicks. But Svensson came through by rising above on the final corner kick and giving the Sounders the victory.
Sounders back in West final after 1-0 win over FC Dallas

Houston Dynamo, Dash get new logos and new color

Rapids down Dynamo late behind Rubio in 2-1 win

Colorado (8-6-4), which clinched a playoff berth with a 1-0 win over Portland on Wednesday, enters post-season play for the first time since 2016. Houston (4-9-9) ended the season without a win its last seven contests. Rubio took a pass from Cole Bassett, started his run down the left, planted and fired across his right for the game winner. Younes Namli put the Rapids up 1-0 at the 61st minute before Mauro Manotas evened the score for Houston eight minutes later.
Philly claims Supporters' Shield on final day of MLS season

The snowy victory for Kansas City was part of a wild final day in the Western Conference, with late goals in Los Angeles and Houston shuffling the playoff bracket. LAFC's reward is a trip to defending MLS Cup champion Seattle in a rematch of last year's Western Conference final won by the Sounders on the road. Only Philadelphia and Toronto had a chance to lay claim to the regular-season title entering the final day of the season. The Eastern Conference had a logjam at the bottom of the standings, and the final day ended with both expansion teams claiming playoff spots.
Picault scores twice, FC Dallas beats Dynamo 3-0
FRISCO, Texas โ Fabrice-Jean Picault scored twice in FC Dallas' 3-0 victory over the Houston Dynamo on Saturday. Franco Jara tapped in a sliding goal off a headed centering pass from Michael Barrios in the 19th minute to give Dallas (8-5-7) the lead. In the 27th minute, Fabrice-Jean Picault headed in a book pass from Andrรฉs Ricaurte. Piicault added one more in the 93rd for the final margin. Houston (4-9-9), which beat Dallas 2-0 on Oct. 7, is winless in six matches.
Morgan scores on penalty kick, Inter Miami beats Houston 1-0
(AP) โ Lewis Morgan scored on a penalty kick in the 57th minute, leading Inter Miami a 1-0 win over the Houston Dynamo on Saturday night. The shot was set up when Houston's Aljaz Struna committed a foul in the penalty area. Miami (5-10-2) won its second straight and moved within a point of Nashville for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. Pulido, Busio help Sporting KC beat Dynamo 2-1
(AP) โ Alan Pulido had his first multi-goal game in MLS, Gianluca Busio had two assists and Sporting Kansas City beat the Houston Dynamo 2-0 on Saturday night. Busio played a long through ball to Pulido, who evaded a pair of defenders before putting away a side-netter. Pulido made a sliding first-timer to make it 2-0 in the 73rd. Busio's one-touch pass led Pulido into the area, where he chipped in over sliding goalkeeper Marko Maric. Sam Junqua, a 23-year-old defender, scored his first MLS goal for the Dynamo in the 84th minute.
Beric scores again as Fire beats Dynamo, snaps skid
CHICAGO โ Robert Beric scored for the third consecutive game and the Chicago Fire beat the Houston Dynamo 4-0 on Wednesday night. Jonathan Bornstein played a one-touch pass to Beric for a one-touch redirection from 7 yards in the 15th minute. Sapong converted from the spot in the 89th to cap the scoring after Aljaz Struna was called for a foul in the area. Sapong's first penalty kick was stopped but, after video review, goalkeeper Marko Maric was ruled to have come off his line and Sapong put away his second attempt. It was the Fireโs highest-scoring game of the season and just their fourth with more than one goal.
Abubakars stoppage-time goal helps Rapids tie Dynamo 1-1
Lalas Abubakar scored in stoppage time to help the Colorado Rapids tie the Houston Dynamo 1-1 on Wednesday night. Colorado (2-3-4) is unbeaten in its last three games but is winless since back-to-back victories to open the regular season. Christian Ramirez tapped in a left-footer to open the scoring less than 20 seconds into the second half. Memo Rodrguez played a high entry from outside the area to the far post where Ramirez scored from point-blank range. Houston (3-2-5) is unbeaten in its last six games dating to a 2-1 loss at Portland on July 18.
BBVA Stadium to reopen to some fans for Dynamo, Dash home games
HOUSTON BBVA Stadium announced a limited number of fans will soon be able to attend Houston Dynamo, Dash home games, according to a press release. This reopening plan, which has been approved by the city of Houston, Major League Soccer and the National Womens Soccer League, marks the first time a major league sports stadium has reopened to some fans. The Dash is scheduled to play on Sept. 26 at BBVA Stadium against the Orlando Pride. BBVA Stadium is implementing policy changes and safety enhancements to protect fans, players and employees' health. The team also outlined that seating will be limited to the upper seating bowl at BBVA Stadium.
Dynamo unbeaten in 4-straight, top Minnesota United 3-0
HOUSTON Ariel Lassiter scored two second-half goals and the Houston Dynamo stretched their unbeaten streak to four with a 3-0 victory over the Minnesota United on Wednesday night. It was the second straight win for Houston (2-2-4), which beat Sporting Kansas City on the road Aug. 25. Darwin Quintero, who was traded to Houston from Minnesota (3-3-2) in November, scored in the 28th minute in his first game against his former team. Quintero blasted a right-footed shot inside the near post that beat sliding goalie Greg Ranjitsingh. Lassiter entered in the 55th and scored 10 minutes later on an easy redirect of a cross.

KANSAS CITY, Kan. Darwin Quintero scored two goals in four minutes and the Houston Dynamo eased past Sporting Kansas City 5-2 on Tuesday night for their first victory of the season. Quintero sealed it with goals in the 57th, on a give-and-go with Darwin Cern, and 61st. Quintero also had two assists, on goals by Elis and Ramirez, to help coach Tab Ramos get his first victory for Houston. Johnny Russell and Gadi Kinda scored for Kansas City (5-2-0), which still sits atop the Western Conference. Sporting KC announced nearly 2,300 people were in attendance at Childrens Mercy Park for its first home game since March.
Houston Dynamo, Dallas FC play to scoreless draw
HOUSTON The Houston Dynamo outshot FC Dallas 17-7 in a scoreless draw Friday night. The Dynamo had the best scoring chance, with Christian Ramirez's shot from 10 yards stopped by Jimmy Mauer in the 27th minute. Dallas (1-1-3) was playing its third match in 10 days and hasn't scored. LAFC's Carlos Vela has knee injury, likely out a few weeks
LOS ANGELES Los Angeles FC forward Carlos Vela is likely to be sidelined for at least a few weeks by a left knee injury. Bradley gave no timetable for Vela's return, but such injuries typically require a minimum of three weeks of rest and rehabilitation. Vela came up limping on a noncontact play during the second half of LAFC's 2-0 loss to the LA Galaxy on Saturday. The 31-year-old Vela had the most prolific season in MLS history last year with LAFC, setting the league record with 34 goals. Vela then scored in each of LAFC's first two matches this season before the pause because of the coronavirus pandemic.
Portland beats Orlando 2-1 to claim MLS is Back championship

The goal set off a raucous celebration on the sideline and sent Orlando into panic mode. The Timbers, who spent 39 days in the MLS bubble and remained on West Coast time, hugged, danced and doused each other with water after the final whistle. Portlands experience the Timbers won the MLS title in 2015 and were runners-up two years ago showed in the finale. But considering Portland has managed just three clean sheets in its last 23 matches, it was no surprise to see a defensive breakdown just a few minutes later.
Rossi scores pair, LAFC gets revenge in 4-1 win over Seattle

MLS returns to action after poignant moment of silence

Nearly 200 players took the field for an 8-minute, 46-second moment of silence to protest racial injustice before Major League Soccers return to action Wednesday night. Players wore black T-shirts, black gloves and black facemasks emblazoned with Black Lives Matter. The shirts had varying slogans that included Black And Proud, Silence Is Violence and Black All The Time. The group was formerly called the Black Players Coalition of MLS but changed its name this week to Black Players for Change. MLS players had weeks to decide what to do prior to the MLS is Back tournament at ESPNs Wide World of Sports complex at Disney World.

Sports is back and according to Las Vegas, the Astros have 11-1 odds at winning the World Series. The Astros will open up their spring training this week at Minute Maid Park and they will also spilt time training at the University of Houston. Rockets begin training camp at the Toyota CenterDespite the rise in COVD-19 cases in Florida, the NBA has finalized their restart. The Rockets open local camp tentatively on Tuesday as the team is scheduled to leave for Orlando on July 9. The Dash to play in NWSL 2020 Challenge CUPThe Houston Dash will kick off their season in the NWSL Challenge Cup on Tuesday.
MLS players agree to salary cuts, possible tournament
The Major League Soccer Players Association voted to approve economic concessions for this season, including across-the-board salary cuts, while also agreeing to play in a proposed summer tournament in Orlando, Florida. The proposal, made public by the union Sunday night, will now be sent to back to the league for approval by team owners. In addition to salary cuts, the union's proposal includes reduced team and individual bonuses, as well as concessions to the existing and future terms of the collective bargaining agreement. MLS first announced last month it was exploring possible changes to player compensation because of the financial hit the league and teams were facing with the extended suspension in play. MLS and the players union agreed to terms of a new contract in early February, but it had not been ratified when the season was put on hold.
Brian Ching to rejoin Dynamo
HOUSTON โ The Dynamo's longtime franchise leader Brian Ching will rejoin the orange nation after a brief and unhappy stint with the expansion Montreal Impact. "We were surprised, but we are working into the night to wrap it up," Dynamo President Chris Canetti told KPRC-TV in Houston. If things go as planned there's a chance Brian could be at practice Thursday. He was unhappy about being left unprotected and then taken in the expansion draft by Montreal. Ching was slated to earn $450,000 on his contract this year.
