Crews in Montgomery County responded to a water rescue involving several people in Lake Conroe after a boat sank late Tuesday.

Officials say more than 10 people had to be rescued Saturday evening after two boats crashed head-on in Lake Conroe.

A 55-year-old man drowned Saturday in Lake Conroe, authorities said.

Authorities have recovered the body of a man who drowned at Lake Conroe on the Fourth of July. The victim has been identified as 28-year-old Binh Le, of the San Antonio area.

CONROE, Texas – Authorities said a monthslong investigation led to the arrest of a man wanted in connection with an indecent exposure incident on Lake Conroe that happened in April. The Montgomery County Precinct 1 Constable’s Office said 68-year-old William Guins is accused of exposing himself to a 19-year-old girl. The girl told authorities Guins asked her if she needed a ride, and when she looked up, she realized he was completely naked so she immediately left. In May, about a month after the initial incident, the victim was back on the lake when she saw Guins again. On Aug. 11, the victim told authorities Guins had parked his boat near where she was parked and had gotten into the water all while watching her.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas – A 27-year-old man drowned in Lake Conroe Saturday after he jumped off a boat. Around 7 p.m. Saturday, authorities received reports of a drowning in the Atkins Creek Area on Lake Conroe. Witnesses called 911 after a man jumped from a boat into the lake and never resurfaced. Divers ultimately pulled the man from the lake around 8:30 p.m. Authorities identified the man as Darius Baker of Conroe, Texas.

With many local school districts opting for virtual learning amid COVID-19, a new trend is picking up speed in response to a need to help working parents find a safe place for their children. Learning academies like Kids R Kids of Lake Conroe are seeking to provide a socially-distanced classroom setting for students in the Houston area. The owner of Kids R Kids of Lake Conroe wanted to be a resource for students of working parents in Conroe and Montgomery ISDs. The three to four hours of remote learning are spread out across the day. The teachers will act as liaisons between the parents and the public school teachers to ensure that every child is on the right track.

LAKE CONROE, Texas – The family and friends of a young woman are in mourning after she drowned just hours before her 21st birthday, deputies said. At approximately 6:35 p.m. on Sunday, deputies said the Montgomery County Dispatch received a call about a drowning that had just occurred on Lake Conroe in the Atkins Creek Cove area. Deputies said Montgomery County Precinct 1 Constable’s Lake Division, Conroe Fire Department, Texas Parks and Wildlife and Montgomery County ESD 1 responded to the call and began to search for the woman. This is the second drowning that has occurred on Lake Conroe this season. Constable Cash encourages everyone who uses the lake to “Be Sensible, Be Safe” and wear a life jacket when on or in the water.

HOUSTON – The body of a man was found in Lake Conroe Saturday afternoon, according to Montgomery County Precinct 1. Investigators said around 4 p.m., a group of friends was on a boat just off East Beach on Lake Conroe. Montgomery County Precinct 1 Lake Patrol unit responded along with the Game Wardens, Conroe Fire, and NMC Fire. However, the Montgomery County Commissioners Court approved the purchase of side-scan sonar for the boat. In about an hour, officials said they were able to find the victim’s body in shallow water.

CONROE – More than 1,400 residents from the Conroe area attended the San Jacinto River Authority (SJRA) special meeting at the Lone Star Convention & Expo Center Thursday to discuss and vote on the temporary flood mitigation strategy of lowering Lake Conroe on a seasonal basis. Those who live along lake Conroe generally pushed against the lowering of Lake Conroe. They won’t put it on the tour any longer.”Those who lived downstream, south and southeast of Lake Conroe, as near as River Plantation, and as far as Kingwood, were for the lowering of the lake. For the fall lowering, the SJRA recommended that the process should begin Aug. 1 and lower the lake by 200′ MSL and then again beginning Sept. 1, lowering the lake to 199.5′ MSL. This was the final amended proposal which SJRA is now asking the City of Houston to consider.
