17-year-old drowns while kayaking in Lake Conroe

CONROE, Texas – Divers have recovered the body of a 17-year-old who was killed while kayaking in Lake Conroe Sunday night.

According to officials, the boy disappeared yesterday afternoon near the FM 1375 bridge in the Sam Houston forest.

Montgomery County constable’s deputies said that the teen reportedly called for help when he hit rough waters. He was then thrown overboard, officials report.

The teenager was not wearing a lifejacket at the time of the deadly incident.
