Summer SUU Commit Drange Helps Champion Navigate UIL Restart
It's been a big summer for Boerne Champion rising junior Marissa Drange. She attended the event in Cedar City, where she met and worked with coaches Pete Hoyer and Lorelle Hoyer. I cannot wait to step on the court as a Thunderbird and represent SUU in the Big Sky Conference." "When I heard the news that UIL released, I was incredibly relieved and excited that we would still get to have a volleyball season," said Drange. The change to the 2020 schedule will affect the team's early matches, including an early tournament in West Texas, but don't expect that to change the goals that Boerne Champion and Drange have set for themselves.
Still Preparing: Volleyball Coaches Awaiting Start of Season
Those are the range of emotions volleyball coaches are feeling day-in and day-out as the number of days between now and the tentative start of the 2020 volleyball season gets smaller. The current start of 2020 volleyball tryouts still stand as August 3. But it is understood that the "normal" start to the season may not be the same for 2020. So, the biggest question is how do we safely start volleyball on time? Club volleyball teams have been doing personal training this summer and have recently been doing tryouts for the 2020-2021 teams.
