What you need to know about Montgomery Countyโs new $10M rental assistance program
HOUSTON โ During a special session Monday, Montgomery County Commissioners Court designated $10 million to go toward rental assistance for residents in need. Montgomery County was funded $105 million from that act to help residents who were impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. We must use these funds diligently and help all who have been affected,โ Commissioner James Noack said in a press release. The fund will not have an income limit, unlike the $2.4 million approved for rental assistance during the May 26 Commissioners Court session. This means that middle-class families across the county who need rental assistance will also be able to apply.

"Right now is our busiest time of the year, and due to the (coronavirus), we are all shut-in," he said. Now that the music has stopped, so has the extra income that has allowed the couple to make ends meet. "I do receive benefits from my other job, but it doesn't cover my rent," Dixon said. This City Council in Texas is forcing residents to cover their noses and mouths outside homes
Starting April 2, Laredo residents will have to cover their mouth and nose when entering any building that is not their home, according to the Laredo Morning Times. This includes offices, public transit and outdoor gas stations, per a Laredo City Council vote. Those in violation of the order, which will continue through April 30, could face a fine of up to $1,000 if their mouth and nose arenโt covered with a mask, bandana, scarf or other fabric. The Laredo City Council also voted to extend the cityโs curfew from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. to pertain to all citizens, not just juveniles. Greg Abbottโs statewide order, residents can still exercise and walk pets after 10 p.m. as long as they comply with social distancing guidelines.
