CDC looking to relax guidelines in schools when it comes to social distancing
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is looking into whether six feet of distance is necessary to keep students safe at school or if three feet is okay, NBC News reports. The current CDC guidelines recommend maintaining six feet of distance between students, which limits how many students can safely fit into each classroom. According to NBC News, CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky was questioned about the issue during a Wednesday subcommittee hearing of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce. FBI releases new video of suspect planting bombs before Capitol riot
The FBI released new videos Tuesday that investigators said show the person suspected of planting two pipe bombs the night before the January riot at the Capitol, NBC News reported. โThese pipe bombs were viable devices that could have been detonated, resulting in injury or death. We need the publicโs help to identify the individual responsible for placing these pipe bombs, to ensure they will not harm themselves or anyone else,โ said Steven DโAntuono, the assistant director in charge of the FBIโs Washington, D.C., field office. The FBI said the bombs were planted between 7:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. ET Jan. 5, outside the national offices of the Republican National Committee and the Democratic National Committee.
Scientists discover three new shark species that glow in the dark
In January 2020, three new shark species that glow in the dark were discovered off the east coast of New Zealand. According to NBC News, a study published in the Frontiers in Marine Science journal on Feb. 26 identifies the glowing species as the kitefin shark, the blackbelly lanternshark, and the southern lanternshark. NBC News reports the discovery is the first time scientists have been able to find proof of bioluminescence in sharks. AdAccording to the study, the newly discovered species live in the oceanโs โtwilight zone,โ up to 3,200 feet below sea level, beyond which solar light does not penetrate and is too weak to initiate photosynthesis, NBC News reports. According to the report, researchers speculate the sharks glow as a way to illuminate the ocean floor while hunting for food and camouflage themselves in order to fend off potential predators and capture prey.

In Maricopa County, a local Arizona State University graduate, Sukhmani Singh, launched novaccineswasted.com as a part of a campaign lobbying the Department of Public Health to create a COVID-19 vaccine standby list. AdAccording to Fox, the website achieved nearly 400 sign-ups within 48 hours; however, the standby list hasnโt been implemented. โIt just seems silly that thereโs not one in place...it seems dangerous,โ Singh told Fox.

Retiring Brokaw: Journalists should get out of power centers
Brokaw says he is retiring from NBC News after working at the network for 55 years. Brokaw, who turns 81 next month, announced last week that he's retiring from NBC News, where he worked for 55 years.
