Human-caused climate change made the record-smashing 2020 Atlantic hurricane season even wetter.

A relative's home on the same property is now gutted and they are living in a camper as well. From a relative's house where they had taken refuge, the Trahans watched as Laura flipped over and destroyed their mobile home. The Trahans have received used clothing, occasional meals and other help from volunteers, but they still confront daily challenges.

Earnestine and Milton Wesley had decided to ride out Delta in their Lake Charles home, damaged by Laura. “And with God’s help we made it.”After blowing ashore, Delta moved over Lake Charles, a city where Laura damaged nearly every home and building.

“When the wind shifted, after that eye passed we heard the tree hit the roof,” said resident Lisa Bourg. Considering it held up against Hurricane Laura, they never imagined it would come down during Delta. I think Laura started it all and Delta finished it,” she said. A place that was already in the process of recovering from Laura, starting all over again because of Delta. "They say that the difference between Delta and Laura is the latter was more of a wind event.

HOUSTON – Several people from Louisiana evacuated to Texas before and after Hurricane Delta stormed across the region. Many made the long trip to Houston to get out of harm’s way. One such family was Justin Meche and his 1-year-old son Bryson. They arrived Saturday to an RV resort in south Houston because they had nowhere else to go. A GoFundMe page has since been set up to help the family in the rebuilding process.

– Hurricane Delta sped up one Louisiana couple's wedding by a few days, but judging by the smiles on the bride and groom, it certainly didn't dampen the affair. Skies were gray, but the rain held off while the wedding party gathered. The streets outside were largely deserted as residents finished up last-minute storm preparations or evacuated. “Within 16 hours they threw an entire wedding together, and it’s beautiful. It was very important for her that she did get married in the church and when that almost didn’t happen she was so distraught,” she said.

HOUSTON – A Houston non-profit organization is preparing to help those in the path of Hurricane Delta. The organization CrowdSource Rescue helps connect rescuers from all over the country to people in need during natural disasters. “They’re going out with these huge trucks, boats, chainsaws just looking to help people,” said Matthew Marchetti, founder of CrowdSource Rescue. JAMAICA BEACH, Texas – It hasn’t even been a month since Tropical Storm Beta led to coastal flooding across southeast Texas. However, residents in Galveston and Jamaica Beach are preparing once again for what Hurricane Delta could bring. The weather was perfect along Jamaica Beach on Wednesday. Many Texans are already fatigued after Hurricane Laura and Tropical Storm Beta. Smith lives in Jamaica Beach and is moving all his items upstairs.

The storm being watched Wednesday was Hurricane Delta, the 25th named storm of the Atlantic's unprecedented hurricane season. Forecasts placed most of Louisiana within Delta's path, with the latest National Hurricane Center estimating landfall in the state on Friday. Along with getting hit by Hurricane Laura and escaping Hurricane Sally, Louisiana saw heavy flooding June 7 from Tropical Storm Cristobal. Tropical Storm Beta prompted tropical storm warnings in mid-September as it slowly crawled up the northeast Texas coast. “Not seeing any signs of any additional tropical weather in the extended which is OK with us because we are SO DONE with Hurricane Season 2020,” they wrote.

CANCUN, Mexico – Jessica Galvan said her trip to Cancun with her husband turned out very differently than they planned. The Houstonians said that they were evacuated from their hotel as soon as they check-in. Officials ordered evacuations of Cancun’s hotel zone and other coastal areas and even opened the city’s convention center as a shelter as Hurricane Delta barreled down on the Yucatan Peninsula. Galvan said that waiting has been the most difficult part and at this point, they don’t know when they will be able to make it back to Texas. “We don’t know what the damage to the airport will be, so who knows if we can even take a flight tomorrow back,” said Galvan.
