HOUSTON โ An investigation is underway after a 72-year-old business owner was shot Tuesday after mistaking a deputy for a burglary suspect in northwest Harris County, authorities said. Deputies said the 72-year-old man arrived at the scene after calling 911 and didnโt know deputies had already arrived. The owner mistook the deputy for the burglar and fired at the deputy, authorities said. Authorities said the deputy returned fired, hitting the man in the shoulder. Investigators said the business owner was wearing the same type of clothing as the burglar seen on camera.

HOUSTON โ The man an off-duty Harris County Sheriffโs deputy shot at during a suspected car break-in is now charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, authorities said Monday. The deputy was not hurt, but Rudegelio Buning Tacorda, 47, was, the Harris County Sheriffโs Office said. He was cut in the hand during a shootout with the deputy. According to the Harris County Sheriffโs Office, the shooting occurred Saturday at an apartment complex in the Katy area around 8:45 p.m. at 23614 Western Center Dr., near Katy Freeway and Highway 99. Officials said the suspect fled the scene, but he showed up at Memorial Hermann Hospital with the gunshot wound to the hand.

President Donald Trump has now signed a bill into law naming a post office after Deputy Sandeep Dhaliwal. The bill, passed with unanimous support in the House and Senate along with being co-sponsored by the entire Texas congressional delegation, will change the name of the office on Addicks Howell Road near Highway 6. Dhaliwal was killed in the line of duty in September 2019.

(NBC NEWS) โ A former police detective is suing a Kansas sheriffโs deputy for running him over with his truck in order to arrest him. 35-year-old Lionel Womack says he was returning to Kansas from a business trip in California on August 15th when he was pulled over by a deputy. Womack says he complied, but when three additional vehicles showed up and surrounded his car he โfreaked outโ and ran away in an open field. Thatโs when dashcam video shows a Kiowa County Sheriffโs truck turn toward him and run him over. Womack is suing the driver of that truck, Deputy Jeremy Rodriguez, accusing him of being recklessly and carelessly indifferent to his federally protected rights.
Deputy recovering after leg run over during chase in NE Harris County, HCSO says
HOUSTON โ A Harris County sheriffโs deputy is out of the hospital recovering after authorities said her leg was run over during a chase in the Greensbrook area Monday. Investigators said the incident happened on Green Coral near Greensbrook Forest around 12:30 a.m. when she was attempting to stop a stolen car when everyone in it hopped out but left the car in drive. Deputies said she chased the suspects, but the vehicle hit her. Investigators said other deputies caught two of the suspects, who are all believed to be juveniles.

HOUSTON โ A former Fort Bend County sheriffโs deputy has been charged with criminal negligent homicide in the shooting death of a 37-year-old deputy constable in the Sienna Plantation area of Missouri City in May. Chadwick Devin McRae, 49, of Stafford, is charged in the death of Caleb Rule, records show. The Fort Bend County Sheriffโs Office released a statement about McRae, saying he was terminated following an internal investigation due to violation of the officeโs Use of Force Policy as it related to Ruleโs death. โThis situation is tragic,โ Fort Bend County District Attorney Brian M. Middleton said. And the death of Deputy Rule, who was on duty serving his community at the time of his death, is an unbearable loss for his wife, children, and extended family.โThe Fort Bend County Sheriffโs Office referred questions to the Texas Rangers, as the lead investigative agency, and the Fort Bend County District Attorneyโs Office.

HOUSTON โ A Harris County Precinct 4 deputy has been fired and charged after he was accused of the attempted sex assault of a teen runaway, authorities say. In one of the alleged messages, Mayes is accused of offering the girl $80 cash for a sex act. When interviewed, the girl told detectives he would hold her hand, touch her shoulder and arm. Investigators said they also found pictures and videos of Mayes having sex with multiple women while wearing his uniform. Roberts claimed investigators took Mayesโ personal cell phone unlawfully and requested the judge order it to be returned.

Robbery suspect shot, killed after charging at deputy in League City, authorities say
LEAGUE CITY, Texas โ A robbery suspect is dead after investigators said he was shot while charging at a Galveston County deputy in League City Thursday. The deputy heard a call just before 9:30 p.m. about reports of a suspicious person possibly robbing a convenience store off Tuscan Lakes near FM 646. By the time the deputy arrived in the parking lot, authorities said the suspect was exiting the store holding a handgun and then charged at that deputy. The deputy said he immediately shot the suspect, who died at the scene. Other law enforcement agencies are helping with the investigation, including the Texas Rangers.
