George Springer, MVP of the 2017 World Series, had four hits for Houston. Altuve’s line-drive single to left scored Maldonado and Springer to put the Astros back in front, 6-5. He singled and took second when third baseman Alex Bregman barehanded the ball and threw it past first for an error. Bassitt was cruising along until the Astros jumped on him for three straight hits in the fourth. Bregman homered leading off, Kyle Tucker followed with a single and scored on Correa’s homer to center that tied the game, 3-3.

Verlander's history shows plenty of postseason success

It was the ALDS Game 2 and he helped lead the Tigers to the AL Pennant that season to begin a productive playoff experience that still continues to this day. Astros Close Out Rays to Move On to ALCS

For the third straight year, the Astros will be playing in the American League Championship Series after closing out the Tampa Bay Rays 6-1 in the ALDS Thursday night. As good as their bullpen has been, they couldn't overcome the Astros hitters getting to Tyler Glasnow early. The Astros were not good against them this season and have never been good in Tampa, so putting this in the rearview mirror was impressive. Many Houston fans should be able to watch Monday's ALDS Game 3 on television. The game against the Tampa Bay Rays starts at 12:05 p.m. and is on the MLB Network. The MLB Network has partnered with several of its distributors and is providing a free preview through Oct. 11 through the following: Altice, AT&T U-verse, Comcast, Cox, DirecTV, DISH, Frontier, RCN, Sling TV and Verizon. He threw Yandy Diaz out from deep in the SS hole in the left field grass.The Astros nearly opened up scoring in the third inning. Altuve was on second with two outs and while Michael Brantley struck out, it was on a wild pitch. Maldonado was able to send Gurriel home with an RBI single and extended the Astros' lead to 2-0.Cole flat out delivered on Saturday. HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- After dazzling performances from Justin Verlander and Jose Altuve in Game 1 of the ALDS, the Astros look to take a commanding 2-0 series lead Saturday against the Rays.First pitch is scheduled for 8:07 p.m. CT.Cy-Young candidate Gerrit Cole takes the mound for the Astros. He had 326 strikeouts in the regular season, the most in the MLB.Blake Snell will be the opposing pitcher for the Rays. Snell went 6-8 during the regular season with a 4.29 ERA. He dealt with an injury that sidelined him from July 21 to September 17.Snell won the AL Cy-Young Award in 2018 for the first time in his career.Game 2 is big on both sides.
