The images distributed across social media created outrage, even death threats, across a nation that venerated Maradona, who died Wednesday of a heart attack at age 60. Claudio Fernández confirmed to Radio Diez that he'd lost his job at the Pinier funeral home, along with his son Ismael and Claudio Medina. FRISCO, Texas – Fabrice-Jean Picault scored twice in FC Dallas' 3-0 victory over the Houston Dynamo on Saturday. Franco Jara tapped in a sliding goal off a headed centering pass from Michael Barrios in the 19th minute to give Dallas (8-5-7) the lead. In the 27th minute, Fabrice-Jean Picault headed in a book pass from Andrés Ricaurte. Piicault added one more in the 93rd for the final margin. Houston (4-9-9), which beat Dallas 2-0 on Oct. 7, is winless in six matches.

(AP) – Niko Hansen’s goal in the 83rd minute helped rally the Houston Dynamo to a 2-2 tie with Minnesota United on Sunday night. The Dynamo's (4-7-8) Memo Rodríguez scored in the 59th minute, cutting the their deficit to 2-1. Minnesota United (6-5-6) failed to capitalize on a fast start that included two goals in a 19-minute span in the first half by Ethan Finley. Finley scored at 11 minutes on a well-timed run off a throw-in from midfield. At 30 minutes, Finley started a run and took a feed from Jacori Hayes past a defender, beating the keeper.

HOUSTON – Hany Mukhtar scored two of Nashville’s three first-half goals in a 3-1 victory over the Houston Dynamo on Wednesday night. Mukhtar opened the scoring in the 15th minute, and Abu Danladi scored on a header four minutes later. Mukhtar added another one in the 23rd, beating Dynamo goalkeeper Marko Maric on a free kick. Darwin Quintero, who leads Houston with six goals, scored in the 75th minute. Joe Willis made five saves for Nashville, which has allowed just nine goals in its last 11 games.

After Lynn Williams scored for the Courage to avoid the shutout, Shae Groom scored the final Dash goal in the 83rd minute. The Dash (2-1-0), who hadn’t ever defeated the Courage, close the fall series next week against the Orlando Pride in Kissimmee, Florida. SAN DIEGO – San Diego Loyal forfeited a second-division soccer match in the United States in protest against an anti-gay slur apparently hurled at one of its players. When they came back out for the second half, Loyal’s players and coaches took a knee and then walked off, thereby forfeiting the match. “SD Loyal forfeited the match in support of Martin and the diversity that the club stands for within its community,” the club said. Loyal said in a statement that players and coaches heard the slur, but the match referees did nothing about it. Loyal forfeited its previous match -- a 1-1 draw against LA Galaxy II -- after player Elijah Martin was the victim of a racial slur by an opponent in the second half.

CHICAGO – Robert Beric scored for the third consecutive game and the Chicago Fire beat the Houston Dynamo 4-0 on Wednesday night. Jonathan Bornstein played a one-touch pass to Beric for a one-touch redirection from 7 yards in the 15th minute. Sapong converted from the spot in the 89th to cap the scoring after Aljaz Struna was called for a foul in the area. Sapong's first penalty kick was stopped but, after video review, goalkeeper Marko Maric was ruled to have come off his line and Sapong put away his second attempt. It was the Fire’s highest-scoring game of the season and just their fourth with more than one goal.

HOUSTON BBVA Stadium announced a limited number of fans will soon be able to attend Houston Dynamo, Dash home games, according to a press release. This reopening plan, which has been approved by the city of Houston, Major League Soccer and the National Womens Soccer League, marks the first time a major league sports stadium has reopened to some fans. The Dash is scheduled to play on Sept. 26 at BBVA Stadium against the Orlando Pride. BBVA Stadium is implementing policy changes and safety enhancements to protect fans, players and employees' health. The team also outlined that seating will be limited to the upper seating bowl at BBVA Stadium.

HOUSTON Houston billionaire Dan Friedkin of The Friedkin Group has closed the sale on Italian soccer club AS Roma. In a press release Monday, Friedkin, a Rice alumni, purchased the club for an estimated $700 million. As one fan wrote recently, Take our iconic club and make it one of the greatest names in world football.
