Report: World Cup sparks surge in Houston singles’ dating activity

Tournament festivities create new opportunities for connection

HOUSTON – Love is in the air! The FIFA World Cup has been an incredible experience for some in Houston, bringing people from all over the world to celebrate the tournament. In fact, according to a new report, the tournament has given the city’s dating scene a boost.

A new survey from DatingAdvice found that since the tournament arrived in Houston, 74% of Houston singles have experienced an increase in dating or hookup activity.

Part of this increase may be driven by the city itself. World Cup festivities have created fun new opportunities for romantic connections and date nights, with 77% of Houston singles saying that Houston has been a more exciting place to date.

The love bug hasn’t just hit Houston residents. The survey found that 38% of Houston singles have dated or hooked up with someone visiting for the World Cup.

So, which visitors are catching locals’ attention? According to the survey, Houston singles are interested in dating Brazilians, and 23% said a visitor’s accent is the most attractive quality.

It’s clear that the World Cup is about more than soccer. The shared love and excitement for the game have given fans a reason to come together, making it easier to form connections, and even find romance.
