EAST BERNARD, Texas – East Bernard ISD is mourning the deaths of Athletic Director and Head Football Coach Jeremy Jenkins and his wife, Brandy Jenkins, a teacher at East Bernard Junior High School.
According to a message from Superintendent Courtney Hudgins, the couple died in a car crash Saturday evening,

“Jeremy and Brandy were much more than their titles or the roles they held within our schools,” Hudgins wrote. “They were colleagues, educators, mentors, friends, and family.”
Brandy Jenkins had recently joined the district. School officials said her students quickly embraced her during the first days of the new school year.
Jeremy Jenkins was remembered as a dedicated coach who was deeply committed to East Bernard students, athletes and the Brahma community.
The district said counseling and support services will be available on site for students and staff. Officials encouraged anyone struggling with the loss to seek support.
The Jenkins family had three sons. The district asked the community to keep the family, students, staff and East Bernard community in their prayers.
