HOUSTON – Both directions of Interstate 10 are back open Thursday in Schulenburg after a chase that started in Houston resulted in a standoff and a man committing suicide, according to authorities. Officials said the chase started after a person in the vehicle fired shots at a deputy from the Harris County Precinct 5 Constable’s Office around 3 a.m. Thursday. The chase passed through Houston and Colorado County where authorities said they used spike strips to damage the tires. Authorities said the driver continued to drive on rims until finally coming to a stop Schulenburg, where he refused to get out. Deputies said the driver continued to flash a handgun and law enforcement shut down I-10 in the area while they worked to resolve the situation.

HOUSTON – A man who robbed a gas station in northwest Harris County Wednesday and led deputies on a high-speed chase was arrested, Harris County sheriff’s deputies said. District 5 deputies said a Circle K Gas Station in the 9000 block of Jones Road was robbed by a suspect armed with a gun. Deputies said they located the suspect with the help of a 3SI tracker, which was inside the bag of stolen money. When deputies tried to pull over the suspect, investigators said he hit the gas and led deputies on a high-speed chase, at times reaching speeds over 140 miles per hour. After he attempted to flee on foot, deputies said the suspect was caught and taken into custody.

HOUSTON – Authorities said a man who surrendered half-naked after an hours-long standoff and chase is now in custody. Deputies said the incident happened Wednesday in the parking lot behind a hotel along the North Freeway and Parker Road. Police said the pursuit came to an end when Tatum crashed into an Uber driver in a silver Honda and killed the two women sitting in the back seats. The Uber driver was transported to Ben Taub Hospital in unknown condition and the suspect was transported to the hospital with minor injuries, police said.

According to deputies, the rider was going about 100 mph when he struck a 70-year-old woman's car, sending it into a pole.
