Chase ends with crash, HAZMAT emergency in south Houston

HOUSTON – A suspect who sent deputy constables on a chase crashed into a building, causing a HAZMAT emergency in south Houston overnight.

According to Precinct 8 Constables, they attempted a traffic stop early Thursday morning on a vehicle at the McDonald’s on Almeda and 45. Deputies said that the suspect stopped and then fled.

The chase eventually ended when the suspect crashed into the building on Pennsylvania Street at Main around 1 a.m.

Authorities said that the driver ultimately lost control of the vehicle which caused them to crash into the warehouse.

After the crash, fluids were leaking from some tanks and barrels from inside the building.

The suspect also reportedly had an active warrant and possibly some drugs in the car.

Deputies said no one was seriously injured.
