PEARLAND, Texas – A man was found dead Tuesday morning by a relative, and authorities have arrested his son after they say he took off with his truck.

The Pearland Police Department said it started at approximately 6:24 a.m. Tuesday, when officers were dispatched to a home in the 9000 block of Sundown Drive.
Inside one of the bedrooms, investigators said a relative found the body of 43-year-old Willie Washington. Police say Washington had multiple stab wounds, and his vehicle was also missing. Officials with the Houston Police Department, Pearland PD, and Harris County Precinct 7 Constables’ Office were able to track down the truck.

Pearland PD’s Public Information Officer Chad Rogers said when they ran the man’s license plate through a tracking system, it pinged in the Houston area. Authorities were able to catch the driver after a pursuit.
Pearland Police identified the driver as Washington’s 16-year-old son.

Police say, based on evidence collected at the scene, the teen has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He is being held at the Brazoria County Juvenile Detention Center.
