Team of the Week: Westbury Christian Basketball presented by Allegiance Bank
Westbury Christian will add another banner to the rafters after winning the TAPPS 4A State Basketball Championship. In this high-scoring affair, the Wildcats defeated Lubbock Trinity Christian 97-93. This marks the 21st State Basketball Championship for the Wildcats which gives them the nod for the Team of the Week.

Last week the TAPPS Basketball season came to a close as teams from across the State met in College Station to determine a Champion. For area TAPPS teams they are now just two wins away from hoisting that coveted wooden TAPPS State Championship trophy and claiming the spot as the best in Texas. The Warriors are seeking their 7th TAPPS State Championship (2020, 2018, 2012, 2011, 2009, 2008) and are the defending state champions. TAPPS 1ACovenant Academy vs Heritage School-FredericksburgIn TAPPS 1A, Convenant Academy out of Cypress will take on Heritage School out of Fredericksburg. It has taken three wins for each of these teams to get to the TAPPS Final Four.

Not to mention, FBCA plays in the District of Doom with the likes of Westbury Christian, Lutheran South and Frassati Catholic. Senior Jared Bohny also earned first-team, all-district honors, while junior Zion Granville earned a second-team nod. With LaRocca, Cole and Granville back in the huddle in 2020-21, Lewis has some pieces to get back in the TAPPS state conversation. Second Baptist reached the state finals, while FBCA fell in the Area Round. Same goes for the FBCA Eagles under the direction of coach Trey Phillips.
