Public Utility Commission of Texas holds open meeting addressing top-of-mind topics like water and electricity
The Public Utility Commission of Texas, or P.U.C., held a meeting Wednesday with a number of items on their agenda pertaining to the failure of the Texas Power Grid. However, before the meeting kicked off, P.U.C. Commissioner Arthur C. DโAndrea stated the agencyโs commitment to serving Texas. Agenda Item 16 stated they would discuss the investigation into the winter storm fiasco. However, no details of any investigation were revealed, although, officials did discuss the plausibility of an audit of energy used and prices paid by consumers.
Residents at senior apartment complex go over a week without water
โThank God!โ said Tyrone Evan, who has been a resident at the senior living apartment complex for the last five years. Evan said residents, who are all 55 years old and older, were without running water for over a week. โWhen you get water and stuff from the pool, you canโt bathe and stuff in that water. You know what Iโm saying.โHarris County Precinct 3 Commissioner Tom Ramsey secured the trucks to bring water to the complex. โThese are senior citizens, here they are not able to carry buckets of water like a lot of other folks,โ said Ramsey.

HEB prepares for an influx of people getting food, supplies to ride out the storm
HOUSTON โ With the extended freeze expected next week, many are turning to grocery stores to get last-minute supplies and food to ride out the storm. Stores like the HEB in Montrose have been packed. โThereโs a lot of energy in the store,โ said HEB store leader Jeff Ditges. โTons of people coming in and out.โโYesterday we shipped more cases out of our warehouses than any other day in HEB history bigger than Thanksgiving, bigger than Christmas,โ McClelland said. Thereโs a relationship between bad weather and people wanting us to deliver to them not wanting to get out of the car.
Family reunited with dog after losing her days before Hurricane Harvey
NEW CANEY โ A family in New Caney is whole again after losing their dog days before Hurricane Harvey slammed into Houston. The family in New Caney almost gave up until a rescue group found her in Sugar land. A volunteer from another organization named, โLost Dogs of Texasโ stepped in and used a special database to find Maddieโs owner. AdThe volunteer from Lost Dogs of Texas was able to contact Rachelโs mother and Maddie was finally reunited with her family. Lost dogs of Texas said thousands of dogs are lost every year.

Gov. Greg Abbott expected to give update on state response to Hurricane Laura
AUSTIN Gov. Greg Abbott will be holding a news conference where he will give an update on the states response to Hurricane Laura, which is now expected to become a Category 4 storm. The latest tracks predict Laura will make landfall overnight Wednesday into Thursday along the Texas-Louisiana border. Abbotts event is scheduled for noon Wednesday. Harris County officials prepare for storm, coordinate storm defense plan
HOUSTON As two storms approach the Gulf coast, Harris County officials are coordinating a storm defense plan. Sanchez says Lauras forecasted track is constantly changing, which causes issues, but theyre as prepared as they can be. Outside of it, theyre tracking their resources like high water rescue vehicles. The good news is since Hurricane Harvey we have 60% more high water rescue assets in this region than we did back then, said Sanchez. Sanchez also advised that families need to a hurricane plan and hurricane kit.
Heavy rain, strong winds send trees crashing down in southwest Houston
HOUSTON โ Storms overnight caused headaches for residents in southwest Houston. Residents on West Ridgecreek Drive heard Mother Nature leaving her mark early Saturday morning. โI thought it was a train coming through the house,โ said resident Preston Henry. โIn two minutes, [my porch] was gone.โThe storm destroyed a his porch, wrecked his roof, and caused water damage inside his home. โIโm waiting for [the cleanup crews] to clear out, so I can go to work,โ said neighbor Charles Palmer.
