Warriors win 7th TAPPS State Championship in program history
The Woodlands Christian Academy successfully completed its jump up to TAPPS 5A by knocking off Fort Worth Christian 60-47 on Friday night at College Station High School for the program's seventh overall state championship. This marks the second-straight TAPPS State Championship for The Woodlands Christian Academy. "I think it's just our will to win," Benigni said. Ad"I think we knew that was going to be the 5A expectation, every playoff game is earned in 5A," Field said. After pulling off a 64-52 victory over TMI-Episcopal, the Warriors rolled past St. Mary's Hall High School, 72-57, and then defeated St. Michael's, 44-31, to reach the TAPPS 5A State Championship game for the first time.
Second Baptist School falls short in TAPPS 5A State Title game
After making it to the TAPPS 5A State Championship game and losing the starting five to graduation, heading into the 2020-2021 season, the outside expectations of Second Baptist School women's basketball may not have been high. Second Baptist School with just one senior gracing the roster, rumbled its way through the district slate and then the playoffs to play Southwest Christian School for the TAPPS 5A State Championship on Friday night at College Station High School. Despite a third-quarter rally fueled by Kate Marshall and company, Second Baptist School fell short, 54-40, ending its season as the TAPPS 5A State Runner-Up for a second-straight season. Just to make it to the state championship game, I'm so proud of my girls." AdThis trip to the TAPPS Final Four marked the fourth-straight trip for Second Baptist School and a second-straight run to the TAPPS State Championship game.

Several Texas college campuses to keep mask mandates after governorโs order

Greg Abbott announced that he will lift the statewide mask mandate and other COVID-19 restrictions starting Wednesday. Austin Community College, Baylor University, Paris Junior College, Rice University, Southern Methodist University, Southwestern University, the Texas A&M University System, Trinity University, the University of Texas at Austin and the University of Texas at El Paso are keeping their current COVID-19 guidelines โ which include mask mandates โ in place. An Amber Alert has been issued for a 3-year-old girl that officials say was abducted from Treehouse Trail in College Station. COLLEGE STATION, Texas โ An Amber Alert has been issued Thursday for 3-year-old Adeline Paige Welch that officials say was abducted from Treehouse Trail in College Station. As of 9 p.m. Thursday, the mother and child have been located in Oklahoma by law enforcement, according to College Station Police. Officials said because of Welchโs medical conditions, she was in immediate danger of death or serious bodily injury. Anyone who has information on Welchโs or Nicholsโ whereabouts is asked to call the College Station Police Department at 979-764-3600.

No. 3 A&M beats No. 5 South Carolina 65-57 for SEC title
Aaliyah Wilson scored 17 points and Nโdea Jones added 16 to lead Texas A&M to a 65-57 win over fifth-ranked South Carolina to give the Aggies their first regular-season Southeastern Conference title. Texas A&M (22-1, 13-1 SEC) snapped a seven-game skid against South Carolina and finished the season 13-0 at home after playing in front of a season-high 2,700 on Sunday. The Aggies outscored South Carolina (19-4, 14-2) 19-8 in the third quarter to take a commanding lead before the Gamecocks get back in it late. AdThe Aggies added a basket after that before South Carolina got its first field goal of the second half on a layup by Lele Grissett a few seconds later. A 5-0 run by Texas A&M, with another 3 by Nixon, came next to make it 52-37 and spur South Carolina Staley to call a timeout.
