Former HISD teacher accused of sexual assault in custody
HOUSTON – A former HISD teacher accused of sexually assaulting elementary students is in custody. “He did turn himself in by calling the police himself,” said the court attorney. He’s charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child and two counts of indecency with a child. According to court documents, he sexually assaulted several third-graders inside his classroom at Northside Elementary School, some dating back to 2016. Prosecutors believe there are more victims and urge them to come forward.
Kyle Rittenhouse, 17, accused in killing of protesters listed in ‘hero’ assignment at Dallas ISD high school
DALLAS – A Dallas school district is investigating a high school English teacher who asked students to write about a modern-day hero and listed the 17-year-old accused of killing two people during Wisconsin protests as one possible option. Kyle Rittenhouse has been accused of fatally shooting two people and wounding another in Kenosha following the police shooting of Jacob Blake. The writing assignment also listed Joseph Rosenbaum, one of the protesters Rittenhouse is accused of killing; along with Mahatma Gandhi, César Chávez, Malcolm X and George Floyd. The Dallas Independent School District did not release the name of the W. T. White High School teacher who assigned the report. In a statement, the district said: “An unapproved assignment posted in Google Classroom yesterday has been brought to our attention.

HOUSTON – A teacher at The Woodlands Christian Academy is accused of an inappropriate relationship with an 18-year-old female student, according to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office. Authorities and school officials were notified of the accusations on Dec. 13, 2019. Cunningham was placed on administrative leave from the school, officials said in an email to parents. “The safety of our students is our top priority,” school officials wrote. Through training, policies and promoting a nurturing and professional culture at The Woodlands Christian Academy, our employees learn the high standards and expectations we have of them regarding their interactions with students.

A teacher is accused of helping Jonathan Tieu, Bac Duong and Hossein Nayeri break out of a southern California jail. She is among 10 people under arrest. The woman got to know one of the escaped inmates as his English tutor inside the jail. The three escapees have been on the run for a week.
