Wharton County high school coach arrested for reportedly trafficking meth

WHARTON COUNTY, Texas – A tip led to the arrest of a high school coach for reportedly trafficking crystal meth.

Around 6 a.m. on Tuesday, the Westside Narcotics Task Force arrested 52-year-old Steven Marshall in El Campo. He was charged with the manufacture and/or delivery of a controlled substance.

A substance believed to be crystal methamphetamine was seized in the investigation, and Marshall was detained without incident. He was booked into the Colorado County Jail.

Drug trafficking wasn’t Marshall’s only alleged profession.

According to Louise High School’s website, he worked as a coach and a teacher of Texas history, economics, and government.

The investigation began when officers received a tip that a high school coach, who they identified to be Marshall, was reportedly moving narcotics.

The investigation is ongoing, and more charges could be filed in the future.
