HOUSTON – Ex-St. Thomas star pitcher Josh Wolf got drafted in the second round in 2019 by the New York Mets. “I woke up to a couple of missed calls,” laughs Wolf. Those missed calls came from New York Mets management, telling the right-handed pitcher he’d been traded to the Cleveland Indians for superstar shortstop Francisco Lindor and veteran pitcher Carlos Carrasco. Wolf was rated as one of the Mets’ top prospects and was part of a four-player return for the two Indians stars. Houston Universities Have Kept COVID-19 Cases Manageable, For Now

The Houston Press spoke with coronavirus response leaders at Rice, UH and St. Thomas about what measures have led to their schools’ relative success in limiting the spread of COVID-19. Rice, UH and St. Thomas all require students, staff and faculty to wear face masks at all times on campus other than when eating or drinking. In lieu of mandatory testing, St. Thomas students who come on campus are required to answer a COVID-19 symptom screener questionnaire and have their temperatures taken each day at one of five locations across campus. “We might well do the same again if things get dramatically worse in Houston over the next couple of months.”

It was the "Rail Shot Competition" to close out the first day of Elite 11 Finals. In the end, it was the St. Thomas quarterback who nailed the final throw to win the challenge, get the Golden Gun Jersey and propel his name up the Elite 11 rankings. But it felt pretty good," Kopp told VYPE on Monday night. He was awesome tonight. The quarterbacks are set to hit the field again tonight at 6 p.m. for Day 2 of the Elite 11, with the camp wrapping up on Wednesday.

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Jeffrey Epsteins estate was sued on Wednesday by the U.S. Virgin Islands, which claimed that the late accused sex offender raped and trafficked in dozens of young women and girls on a private Caribbean island he owned. According to the complaint, Epstein, with help from accomplices, trafficked, raped, sexually assaulted and held captive girls and young women at his properties in the Virgin Islands, where he had registered as a sex offender in 2010. As recently as July 2018, Epstein refused to let a Virgin Islands investigator and U.S. marshals enter Little St. James beyond its dock, which he called its front door, the complaint said.

FBI agents on Monday were searching the Virgin Islands residence of Jeffrey Epstein, an accused child sex trafficker, a bureau spokesman told NBC News. The search of Epstein's private island of Little St. James comes two days after the wealthy financier died from an apparent suicide while in jail in Manhattan. Sources have said Epstein hanged himself. And the search came on the same day that Attorney General William Barr said that any co-conspirators of Epstein "should not rest easy."

Dominican National Arrested in U.S. Virgin Islands for Crimes Related to Alien Smuggling and Prostitution Scheme

Yohanna Gonzalez-McFarlane, 38, of St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, was arrested on August 7, and charged in a criminal complaint with one count of alien harboring for financial gain and one count of interstate transportation for prostitution. The arrest was announced by Assistant Attorney General Eric Dreiband for the Justice Departments Civil Rights Division and U.S. Attorney Gretchen C.F. Shappert for the District of the Virgin Islands. The defendant then housed the women at a residence on St. Thomas and required them to engage in commercial sex at the defendants nightclub to repay a smuggling debt. The case came to law enforcements attention when one of the women reported the conditions of her treatment to her family, who then called the Virgin Islands Police Department.
