Spring Branch ISD approves pay increase, raises starting pay to $62K, district says
The Spring Branch ISD Board of Trustees unanimously approved a 3% pay increase for all employees in the district as part of the $357.5 million budget for the 2023 fiscal year. Trustees also approved starting teacher pay for 2022-2023 of $62,000, the district said in a news release Tuesday.

DATA: Houston-area school districts see troubling failure rates for first grading period
No matter the school district, failure rates for the first grading period, among those learning virtually, are much higher than failure rates during the same period last year, according to an analysis of data conducted by KPRC 2. After reporting 42% of students enrolled in Houston Independent School District failed at least one course during the first six weeks of the school year, KPRC 2 sent requests to 10 Houston-area school districts for failure rates among virtual students vs in-person students. As more requests are fulfilled, KPRC 2 will continue to update the data provided:Houston Independent School DistrictWhile the Houston Independent School District is Texas’ largest school district, it’s far from alone in documenting problems associated with virtual learning. Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School DistrictForty-four percent of high school students enrolled in virtual learning failed at least one course during the first grading period, data released by Cy-Fair ISD confirmed. Thirty-eight percent of middle school students learning virtually failed at least one course, according to the data.

Spring Woods HS Unified Football Play wins 2020 VYPE Viral Video Madness
The Spring Woods High School faithful came out in force during the 2020 VYPE Viral Video Madness Bracket Challenge! In a field that started with 16 viral videos from the year, the Spring Woods High School Unified Football game final touchdown play reached the championship showdown. After more than 18,000 votes, the Spring Woods High School moment from the fall racked up more than 11,000 votes to be crowned the winner of the 2020 VYPE Viral Video Madness Bracket Challenge.
