Answer: The City of Houston says, we have about 16,000 lane miles of city streets and potholes are bound to happen at any point. The City of Houston also says, because of our weather, Houstonians can expect to see potholes all year round. In other cities, more potholes happen in the winter and spring after cold temperatures, rain or snow.

Houston Public Works uses the pavement condition index, international roughness index and traffic volume data, as well as 311 call data to determine which streets need immediate rehabilitation and reconstruction. The community is urged to report potholes and street repair requests to 311.
Road conditions blamed for delay in choking childโs transport to hospital in Crosby
CROSBY, Texas โ A toddler was released from Memorial Hermann Childrenโs Hospital on Wednesday afternoon after a popcorn kernel was lodged in his throat last week. According to Natalie Ruiz, her 19-month-old son, Noah Martinez, was eating popcorn with his brother, when he began choking. Graves said her team struggled to reach Noah due to the treacherous conditions on West Crosby Street. According to Graves, the team made the call to airlift Noah to the hospital. The spokesperson also said it would be illegal for the county to work on the road, but they will be reaching out to the owner.
