Lampasas' UT Baseball Commit Makes A Name For Himself In More Ways Than One
Ace Whitehead is his name and he's a multi-sport athlete at Lampasas High School. It started with the 2019 Texas high school football season, when he recorded his best year to date with 4,982 yards and 75 touchdowns. The buzz continued in 2020 because college baseball programs were starting to show more interest in his athletic abilities and fans wanted an encore during the Texas high school baseball season. Before he relocates to the Forty Acres, Whitehead is hoping for high school sports to start and end around their normal time so he can accomplish more in his hometown. "I know that our senior class really wants to give it our all one last time for Lampasas."
University of Texas announces changes in football program
The University of Texas has made decisions on several key traditions and aspects of Longhorn football. Over the past few months, questions regarding the legendary โEyes of Texasโ song have been brought up by players and alumni. The University sent out a statement announcing some of those changes, which include the field being renamed to honor Earl Campbell and Ricky Williams. The school said they will honor the Precursors, the first Black undergraduates to attend UT, with a monument. However, the โEyes of Texasโ song will remain.
UT plays on despite controversy
SAN ANTONIO โ A sea of burnt orange surrounded San Antonio's Alamodome Saturday, despite a growing controversy surrounding two of its players. Legions of Longhorn fans gathered to greet at the UT season finale. "It was shocking when I heard that yesterday," said UT fan Jay Vigil. Another UT fan, Lonnie Carter, said he thinks the controversy won't affect team play. "I think the team can put that aside and be able to play and represent today," said Carter.
