Houston Habitat for Humanity has secured $33 million in funding to develop Robins Landing, a master-planned community serving low to moderate income Houstonians in their journey to homeownership, the non-profit organization announced Tuesday.

HOUSTON โ More than three years have passed since Hurricane Harvey, but some people are still recovering from the stormโs devastating impact. The Fort Bend County Habitat for Humanity has opened its Harvey Repair Program. The program was made to help repair homes damaged by the storm by using funds from FEMA and insurance. The Harvey Repair Program is now open. The Fort Bend County Habitat for Humanity asks residents in need to fill out its Disaster Home Repair application and return it with the required supporting documentation to mike@fortbendhabitat.org.
Helping Hammers: Dedication ceremony to be held for Habitat home KPRC 2 helped build for local family Wednesday
HOUSTON For months, KPRC 2 and Habitat for Humanity have worked to build a home for a local family in need as part of a station tradition that has spanned seven years in a row. A dedication ceremony will be held for the home that volunteers started building in January, Wednesday in northeast Houston. KPRC 2s build partners will give a recorded message for the family, which will be played on a monitor onsite. KPRC Habitat Home build progress continues
HOUSTON โ The sixth KPRC2 Houston Habitat for Humanity home is starting to take shape as volunteers from two more corporate partners joined the build Wednesday. Constant hammering is a familiar sound weโve come to hear in the northeast Houston neighborhood โ the sound of progress. On the sixth day during the sixth year of the KPRC2 Houston Habitat Build, volunteers with Village Plumbing & Air and Carpet Giant came to lend their skills. The hard workers in hard hats put up insulation around the 2019 recipientโs future home. Houston Habitat for Humanity tells KPRC2 every dollar that is saved on making it efficient is a dollar the homeowner can put toward her mortgage.
Day 4 of construction on Houston Habitat build in northeast Houston
HOUSTON โ It was a beautiful day four of the Houston Habitat for Humanity home build in northeast Houston. With their hard hats and work gloves on, volunteers with Frontier Utilities and Shipley Do-nuts put in hours of hard work Friday. They installed part of the walls and trusses on the 6th Annual KPRC Houston Habitat Home. Frontier Utilities had been sponsoring the event for three years and it will help the Vessel Family even more. "We use the "Ship," the kinda, the "Ship" philosophy -- service, honor, integrity and the people, so we're doing that today.

'Mattress Mack' visits KPRC's Houston Habitat for Humanity home build as construction continues
HOUSTON โ Wednesday marked the first day of on-site construction for the KPRC 2018 Houston Habitat for Humanity home build. Angela Cox, Development Director for Houston Habitat, said new homeowners must complete up to 250 hours of sweat equity before they can purchase their home. Construction on KPRC's 2018 home will continue for four to six months before the to-be-determined family finally moves in and begins living their American dream.
Single mother of 2 helps work on own Habitat for Humanity home
HOUSTON โ The Gomez family is about to get news that will change their lives. It's a chance to live the American dream -- thanks to hard work and support from Houston Habitat for Humanity. This is the fourth year in a row KPRC has participated in a Habitat build. "We're gonna be outside a lot. Outside," Gomez said.
KPRC 2 kicks off 4th annual Houston Habitat Home build day
As with any proper build, the 4th annual KPRC Habitat Home kickoff began with a safety brief. Despite some wind and some rain, nail by nail, board by board, walls came together as daylight made its morning appearance. It began at a time when Houston Habitat for Humanity executive director Allison Hay said the need was growing.
