Fort Bend County Sheriff Eric Fagan, along with Major Rudy Castaneda and Captain Dalia Simons with the Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division provided details on the arrest of a suspect accused of sexually assaulting a woman on a trail in Fresno.

The Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office received a grant from the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) to help crack down on unbuckled drivers and passengers during the busy Memorial Day holiday as part of a statewide seat belt enforcement campaign.

“There are individuals who are out there using this as a scam, they go and knock on peoples’ doors claiming they need help just to get access into your home. Do not open the door for anyone at that time of night,” the sheriff said.

According to Sheriff Eric Fagan, the 58-year-old man was shot three times by his 20-year-old son around 6:30 a.m. The suspect is in custody and charges have not yet been filed, deputies said. According to the sheriff, members of the Crisis Intervention Team have been called the residence numerous times over the past few years. “My prayers are with the family, keep them in your prayers,” said Fagan.

The effort will feature children’s books written by Black authors, according to the release. The books will help explain the contributions of African Americans in their struggles for freedom and equality while explaining the nation’s history, the release stated.

RICHMOND, Texas – A Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Department employee with more than four years of service is now charged with improper sexual relationship with an inmate. Authorities said Monday that Nathan Carr, 31 -- a FBCSO civilian detention officer -- was removed from contact with inmates on Jan. 7 around 12:45 p.m. after an inmate came forward and told a sheriff’s department employee about what was happening between Carr and another inmate. Fort Bend County Sheriff Eric Fagan said the gender of the victim has not been released and “shouldn’t matter,” though added that the information would eventually be released. Fort Bend authorities said Carr was removed from contact with inmates and “admitted to his inappropriate conduct” and was arrested on Saturday at 9 p.m. and was relieved of duty without pay. Improper sexual relationship with an inmate is punishable of up to 2 years in prison and a $10,000 fine, Fagan said.
