ON THE PROWL: Klein Oak Cross Country
The Klein Oak Panthers' Cross Country teams are both coming off third-place finishes in the district meet a year ago. On the girls' side, the Lady Panthers return some elite talent in Gabbie Hoots, Elizabeth Winkler and Danielle Strebel. The boys will be paced by Jack Boyd and Derek Waite. Can they knock off Klein High as the top team?

VYPE 411: Klein Oak's Elizabeth Winkler
VYPE caught up with Winkler for the 411 on the star from Klein Oak High School. VYPE: How long have you been running Cross Country and how did you get your start? Winkler: I have been running cross country for about four years, starting in 7th grade. So, I joined the cross country team at Krimmel Intermediate. Winkler: My greatest high school memory was getting to go to The Region 2 Championships as an entire team unit.

2020 VYPE Girls Cross Country Preview (Public School): Preseason Team, Runner Rankings
An experienced senior group is back, headed by Addison Stevenson, who finished ninth overall with a time of 18:06.58. If Tompkins can push a few more girls into the Top 30 spots, they could contend for a higher team finish. The team finished 13th overall at last year's state meet but do return some experience. OTHERS TO WATCH: Huffman FalconsHuffman finished ninth overall at the UIL State Cross Country meet last year. They do lose two senior runners but return three more harriers with experience.
