Astros clinch 4th straight playoff berth after Angels loss to Dodgers
HOUSTON – The wait is finally over and although the lost again in Arlington to the Rangers they have punched their playoff ticket thanks to the Angels loss late Friday night to the Dodgers. The Astros , who felll to the Rangers Friday in extra innings, are headed to the playoffs for a fourth straight season. They will finish the weekend against Texas and wait on their first round wild card opponent. Entering Saturday they will play a best of three series against either the A’s, Twins, White Sox or Indians. Friday night they could have clinched with a win over Texas but the bullpen again blew leads in both the 9th and 10th innings and fell 5-4.
Trout ties Salmon's Angels career HR record with No. 299
ANAHEIM, Calif. Mike Trout tied Tim Salmon's career record for home runs with the Angels, connecting for No. Trout drove a sinker from Houston's Lance McCullers Jr. over the wall in center for a two-run shot. The 29-year-old Trout is a three-time AL MVP and won the award last season. Trout was the 25th overall pick in the 2009 MLB draft and made his big league debut in 2011. Salmon played his entire 14-year career with the Angels from 1992 to 2006 and was part of their only World Series championship in 2002.
'October Reign': Fans flock to team store after Astros clinch AL West Division title
HOUSTON - Fans hit the Astros team store Monday for the official American West Division Champions merchandise. To celebrate, fans flocked to the store to pick up their AL West champions gear ahead of the post season. "They've got some pins, some postseason and division series champion pins," said Betty Neumenn. "They got the little ball that's got the division series on it, so (I'm buying) just some add-ons, some stuff for the display case." "This is a great team.

A tweet by Major League Baseballs spicy account, Cut 4, shows the moment when the boy and his father claimed Bregmans ball, and then, just moments later, the boy threw the ball into the stands below he and his fathers seats. Multiple people in the comments said security managed to get the ball back to the boy, but the fathers face after what happened is priceless. Marisnick's Week A Turning Point for Team and Player
Jake Marisnick has been through a tough week, but maybe he and the Astros reached a turning point Wednesday night. It was where the ball struck on the shoulder just below his head that caused the outcry. He told his team to go back in the dugout, patted Pujols on the back.
