Deputy Justin Gay, who was shot 7 times in legs, walks again

HOUSTON – Four months after Harris County Deputy Justin Gay was shot in the legs several times, he is now walking again.

Gay was responding to a disturbance call in November when he got into an altercation with the suspect. During the scuffle, Gay was shot seven times in the legs by the gunman

Gay's legs were severely damaged.

After several extensive surgeries and four months of recovery, he is now on his feet and walking.

His journey to full recovery will be longer and will require more physical rehabilitation.

Even though he still receives a paycheck from the county, his other job for extra income has stopped. The county held a fundraiser in December for Gay and his family to help with any financial assistance.
