The move is the latest ripple from the global semiconductor shortage, which earlier this week forced Honda and Toyota to announce production cuts at some North American factories. General Motors also has been forced to build pickups without some computers and install them later. AdAutomakers have said they don't expect the chip shortage to get any better before the third quarter of the year.
Ford recalling popular pick-up trucks because front windshields could pop out
HOUSTON โ If you drive a Ford F150 or Super Duty pick-up truck, your front windshield could pop out. The automaker is recalling 80,000 F-150 trucks that were built at the Dearborn truck plant and Super Duty pickup trucks built at its Kentucky plant between last October and February 2021. In the event of a crash, Ford says the windshield may not stay in place because itโs not properly bonded to the vehicle. Be on the lookout for the recall notice from Ford in early April 2021.
Fords powerful new F-150 offers fully reclining seats and a bottle opener
Looking to maintain its place as America's best-selling truck, Ford revealed its new F-150 for the 2021 model year Thursday night. The new F-150 will also be available in a hybrid version that pairs a turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 engine with electric motors. Ford is also working on a fully electric version of the F-150, but that was not revealed at Thursday night's online event. As with competitors' large trucks, customers have an enormous amount of choice in amenities and styles. In the new F-150, Ford's answer is a lockable storage bin that stretches the full width of the truck underneath the back seats.
