Ridge Point riding momentum into quarterfinal showdown against North Shore
In the Houston-area, teams like Fort Bend Marshall, Crosby, Manvel, Clear Falls, Katy, North Shore and Ridge Point are the last teams standing. IN FOCUS: Clear Falls makes statement against Brook
Clear Falls made a statement last weekend, crushing Clear Brook 28-0 in a District 24-6A clash. The offense is rolling for the Knights as QB Pierson Morelli has already thrown for over 400 yards and Quinn Bowen has over 400 all-purpose yards. WR Luke Vidal has also pitched in on offense. THE RANKINGS: Cy-Fair, Clear Falls, FBCA trending upward
The top teams stayed put in each classification but there was some movement in the Class 6A rankings. Cy-Fair, Clear Falls and Cypress Ranch move into the rankings as Grand Oaks, Brazoswood and Kingwood are bounced out of the Top 10. IN FOCUS: Chomp, Chomp... Dickinson wears out Ridge Point
In one of the biggest matchups in Week 2, the Dickinson Gators used a balanced offense to wear out Ridge Point 38-21 in the Swamp. QB Graham Ledbetter threw for over 110 and two scores, while Jarrell Simpson went off for 130 yards and a score. The Gators open up district play with Clear Falls next weekend. But VYPE has still done what we have always done when it comes to previewing Texas high school football here in Houston. ...CLEAR SPRINGS CHARGERSAfter winning district in 2018, Clear Springs went 6-1 in 24-6A in 2019, losing the crown to Dickinson. Defensively, the marquee talents are 6-foot-4, 225-pound senior DE/ LB Keith Cooper (55 total tackles, 4 sacks, INT) and senior OLB Kyron Smith (38 total tackles, INT). Defensively, the Knights are led by junior DB Tristan Zarella (3 INTs) and junior LB Kannon Garza (60 total tackles). Behind seniors Daevien Williams (44 total tackles) and Cameron Brown, who also plays linebacker, the secondary has some bright spots.

Clear Falls made the postseason for the second time in school history in 2019. Offensive skill is the strength of Clear Falls, which averaged 42.8 points per game last season. Coach Zach Head's offense is wide-open but says goodbye to District Offensive MVP Gavin Esquivel at QB. Enter new QB Pierson Morelli, who moves from running back to signal-caller. The 6-foot senior adds a dimension of the run-pass option for Clear Falls.
