2 people escape apartment fire in west Houston

HOUSTON – Two people were forced from their apartment early Tuesday morning during a kitchen fire in west Houston. 

Firefighters arrived at the Oaks of Woodlake Apartments on Tanglewilde and Briar Forest at around 1 a.m. 

Fire officials say the fire started on the stove, then spread to the wall and ceiling. Crews managed to stop the flames before they spread to the crawl space. 

One woman who escaped the fire was treated for smoke inhalation at the scene.
