MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas – More than $1 million was seized after a traffic stop in Montgomery County led to the discovery of drugs at a home in New Caney.

The Montgomery County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office said it happened on May 22 on the US 59 service road in New Caney.

Constable deputies saw a vehicle violate traffic laws and subsequently pulled it over.

While they were investigating, deputies discovered $500,000 in the bed of the truck. Deputies also uncovered information leading them to believe the money was the proceeds from sales of drugs.

Following the investigation, the driver, Angel Cabrera-Bueno and passenger Jesus Cabrera, both Mexican Nationals were arrested for Money Laundering.

As part of the investigation, a search was conducted of a home in the 2100 block of Russell Dr. in New Caney. There, deputies discovered approximately $1.3 million in additional currency as well as 19 kilograms of cocaine and 1 kilogram of heroin.

The investigation is ongoing and additional charges are possible.
