Pollen begins Houston takeover

HOUSTON – If you’ve noticed that your car or truck is taking on a bit of a lime green tint recently, you’re not alone.

As the calendar has flipped to March, Mother Nature has flipped on the pollen switch with trees all over the region starting to finally pop their leaves.

Over the next few weeks, we’ll start to see more and more green leaves form across the trees and for allergy sufferers, the daily pollen count will be mandatory reading.

Early this month, both oak and pine trees will be running high pollen counts, followed by cedar and ash trees combining to keep pollen levels in the high category just about every day.

The silver lining right now is that grass pollen is low and not likely to rise until later this spring, namely April and May.

The KPRC Weather Team is tracking the daily pollen counts each day and you can also find a link to the pollen count for the greater Houston area here.
