Storms wind down for Sunday night

HOUSTON – As expected, it's been a somewhat soggy afternoon across the area. Storms are still dumping some healthy amounts of rain although the overall coverage is winding down.

Storms will eventually cut off later this evening as we approach the dinner hours. Temperatures (most of which are rain-cooled) will sit in the mid-80s.

Overnight, partly cloudy with just a few stray leftover showers through sunrise and muggy for Monday morning with temps starting off in the upper 70s.

Monday afternoon will carry another round of thunderstorms as the heat and sea breeze combo get cranking. Hot again with highs in the mid-90s.

Speaking of hot, later this week, the ridge shifts east over the top of Houston and we'll see afternoon highs crank up into the upper 90s by next weekend.
