Man hit, killed by train near downtown Houston

HOUSTON – Police are investigating an accident after a train conductor spotted a deceased man on the tracks in East Houston.

According to authorities, the man had been hit by a previous passing train and was spotted by a second train around 10:50 p.m. near Congress Avenue and Emancipation Avenue just east of downtown.

The first train did not realize it had struck a pedestrian and continued on, leaving the man on the tracks, police said.

According to authorities, the conductor of a second train passed the man, stopped to check on him and determined he’d been hit and killed by a previous train.

Police said they do not know why the man was on the tracks to begin with.

An investigation is underway in order to determine which train could have possibly hit the man.
