Rep. Randy Weber demands USPS accountability amidst Houston mail delays

In a recent press conference held outside the Missouri City Post Office, Representative Randy Weber (TX-14) addressed the growing concerns over persistent mail delays in the Greater Houston area.

The Missouri City facility, in particular, has become a focal point for resident frustrations, with numerous complaints regarding delayed deliveries and packages stuck at the facility for weeks.

Representative Weber highlighted the urgency of the matter by sharing a poignant example. A disabled veteran, reliant on the Postal Service for the delivery of crucial medication, has been waiting for his package for weeks. Despite repeated efforts to inquire about the status of the delivery, neither the veteran nor Weber’s office has received satisfactory answers.

Weber expressed his concern for constituents, emphasizing the gravity of the situation. “He relies on the Postal Service to deliver that medicine because he cannot leave his house,” said Weber.

This sentiment is echoed by the flood of complaints pouring into Weber’s office related to the Missouri City facility.

“We’re here today to demand answers from the USPS and ensure that they work overtime to guarantee folks actually get their packages and their mail,” declared Weber. The representative underscored the need for the USPS to acknowledge and rectify the issues causing the delays promptly.

Weber and his staff have encountered numerous obstacles in their attempts to get clarity from the USPS. Describing the experience as “roadblock after roadblock after roadblock,” Weber expressed frustration with the lack of cooperation and transparency from the Postal Service. He emphasized that if a member of Congress is facing challenges in obtaining information, constituents must be feeling even more exasperated.

“The USPS leadership needs to take accountability of what’s going on and work overtime, people. Come early, stay late, work overtime to take care of the issue,” asserted Weber.

The representative called on the USPS leadership to address the systemic problems causing the delays and ensure that corrective measures are implemented promptly.
