USPS bringing in 30 employees to help fix mail delivery backlog by this week

MISSOURI CITY, Texas – United States Rep. Al Green said on Tuesday that USPS stated they have brought in about 30 employees to help address the mail delivery delay issues in Missouri City.

The agency is bringing in personnel to fix the backlog by this week, according to U.S. Rep. Morgan Lutrell’s office.

“I have been informed by the local United States Postal Service that they have brought in 23 additional persons to help with the backlog as well as 10 additional plant managers. It was indicated that they are working tirelessly to resolve mail delivery issues and to modernize mail processing for the Greater Houston area,” Green said.

He added he plans tour the Missouri City facility.

USPS also said their plan is to have the Missouri City Distribution Center handle international packages only while the local packages are delivered to the Northwest Center.

KPRC 2 has continued to report on the mail problems in the Houston area.

Several residents have said the delays have cost them a lost of money. One business owner said the mail problems have cost him $10,000.
