Man shot by officers after waving gun at family outside Livingston gas station

LIVINGSTON, Texas – A man was taken to the hospital Sunday evening after he was shot by officers at a gas station in Livingston.

Officers with Livingston Police Department and Polk County Sheriff’s Office responded to a gas station parking lot in the 100 block of Pan American Parkway after receiving reports of a man with a gun.

A woman said she and her family were about to leave the gas station when they were approached by a man waving a gun at them. The woman called her husband and 911. When the husband arrived, he saw the man hiding behind the gas station, authorities said.

Officers attempted to talk the man into putting the gun down when, at some point, he allegedly fired a gunshot toward them.

Officers returned fire, hitting the man, according to officials. He was taken to the hospital in unknown condition. No one else was hurt.

The Texas Rangers were investigating the shooting.
