Jewelry store robber sentenced to 30 years in prison

Jury found Brandon Powell guilty of aggravated robbery

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TEXAS – A judge in Montgomery County sentenced 31-year-old Brandon Powell to 30 years in prison after a jury found him guilty of aggravated robbery.

A jury handed down the verdict on Tuesday.

During the trial, jurors heard testimony from a co-conspirator who testified to Powell's involvement in robbing a Jared's Jewelry store in The Woodlands on June 17, 2013. During the robbery, more than half a million dollars' worth of jewelry was taken.

Jurors also heard that Powell's DNA was found on a mask located near the crime scene.

Powell was the last of four defendants to be convicted and sentenced in the robbery, Montgomery County Prosecutor Laura Bond said.
