It's National Hot Dog Day

HOUSTON – Break out the ketchup and mustard. It's National Hot Dog Day!

The National Hot Dog and Sausage Council declared July 14 as National Hot Dog Day.

Several cities across the country have their own hot dog style. The New York hot dog is traditionally topped with spicy brown mustard and sauerkraut and/or onions with tomato paste. The Chicago-style dog is one of the most well-known in America. The dog is usually loaded with a variety of toppings, but it always includes fresh tomato, spears of pickles, hot peppers, sweet onion and green relish.
