It was a busy day for the Houston Texans, as they made a trade and signed a new player, among other moves.

Taylor effective in lone series as Texans beat Packers 26-7

(AP Photo/Darron Cummings)INDIANAPOLIS – Indianapolis Colts linebacker Darius Leonard made his final punch count Sunday. Bobby Okereke recovered the skittering ball in the end zone for the Colts' second win in three weeks over the Texans — in almost the exact same way. Watson answered by marching the Texans to the Colts 21. Sanchez punted in that week's game, a loss to Tennessee.

3 takeaways from the Texans blowout loss to the Bears

The Houston Texans suffered their worst loss of the season Sunday, getting blown out by the Chicago Bears at Soldier Field, 36-7. Run defense poundedThe Texans’ defense struggled from the first play with David Montgomery bursting through for 80 yards and a touchdown. From there, the Bears used the threat of the run more than the run, hitting short passes off play-action. Mitch Trubisky, the maligned and oft-benched Bears quarterback, outplayed Watson and helped the Bears run up 30 points by halftime. The Texans owned the second-worst run defense in the NFL heading into the game, and it is not improving.

Houston Texans 2020 Offseason Position Preview: Offensive Line

Incredibly enough, that wasn't even the most incredible positional metamorphosis on the offensive side of the ball for the Texans. That would be the offensive line, where three new starters who have ten year staying power were added at left tackle, left guard, and right tackle. Here are three burning Texan questions on the offensive line for the 2020 offseason:When does Laremy Tunsil get a new deal? Howard had the look of a guy the Texans want to keep for a long, long time, and the difference with and without him last season long the offensive line was noticeable. Four of the five spots along the offensive line are solid, probably for the next four or five years Tunsil, Scharping, center Nick Martin, and Howard.

Texans at Colts: Keys to a Houston win

Getty ImagesHouston, TX -When the Colts and Texans meet, its almost always a battle. The Colts came to NRG Stadium for the Wild Card game this past January, and got the 21-7 win over the Texans. The Colts played Kansas City before their bye week last week, and the Texans got the impressive win this past Sunday. Here are some keys to a Texans win:Containing Marlon MackThat Wildcard game? Somehow, someway, the Texans need to shut down Hilton if they want the win.

Texans offense shines in Kansas City win: "It's going upward"

Getty ImagesHouston - Sunday's win over a solid, Patrick Mahomes-led Kansas City Chiefs team was a big one for the Texans. Roderick Johnson took his place and made sure the streak continued. "The offense was clicking," Roderick Johnson said. Duke Johnson scored on an 11-yard catch and run in the second quarter, earning his first touchdown as a member of the Texans. Offense will be crucial for next week's battle against an Indianapolis Colts, a team that has plenty of momentum.

Texans-Jaguars Tale of the Tape

Minshew was borderline spectacular last week in his NFL debut in relief of the injured Nick Foles, completing 22-of-25 passes with a pair of touchdowns and one interception. Watson is one of the league's elite playmakers but is also the only quarterback to get sacked six times in week one. Edge: TEXANSRBCarlos Hyde and Duke Johnson provided much more in the ground game, than could have been expected as each were making their Texans debut. Houston will like to see top draft pick Tytus Howard make his NFL debut this week at left guard as he recovers from a broken finger suffered during training camp. The Jaguars have had great success against the Texans over the years, including last year's season finale when they sacked Watson six times.

3 things that will have to happen for the Texans to beat the Saints

Tashaun Gipson #39 of the Jacksonville Jaguars tackles Lamar Miller #26 of the Houston Texans in the fourth quarter at NRG Stadium on September 10, 2017 in Houston, Texas. (Photo by Tim Warner/Getty Images)The Texans face a challenging task Monday night against the Saints. The Texans signed Bradley Roby to play corner opposite Johnathan Joseph, while Tashaun Gipson comes over from the division rival Jaguars. The Saints can beat you in the air with both their wide receivers and running backs. One of the smartest things the Texans did with their offseason moves was to trade for running backs who know how to help in pass protection.

How Texans are dealing with loss of RB Lamar Miller

HOUSTON - The Texans returned to practice with a light workout late Monday afternoon inside of their practice bubble at The Methodist Training Center. Wide receiver Keke Coutee, also dealing with an ankle situation, was also at practice along with Justin Reid and Tashaun Gipson. I think hes a sub-back in some things he does. Hes played 16 games three years in a row so hes been out there playing a lot.O'Brien on how J.J. Watt is playing:Hes had a great camp and playing really well right now. Hes ready to play and ready to go.O'Brien on the health of the team entering season opener:The health of the camp has been decent.

3 things to watch during Texans second preseason game

(Photo by Mitchell Leff/Getty Images)HOUSTON - The Texans host the Lions on Saturday night in their second preseason game. The main objective, for both teams, remains the same as it is for every preseason contest -- come out of the game healthy. For the Texans, there are a handful of other things worthy of close attention. Howard could get more snaps at that spot just as he did last week during the second quarter. Smith is in his second season as an undrafted free agent, while Johnson, who followed the same post-draft path to Houston, is a rookie from Oklahoma State.

Houston Texans fall to Green Bay Packers 28-26 in preseason opener

GREEN BAY, Wisconsin (KTRK) -- The Texans first preseason game is in the books, and there were many highs and lows. The star players, such as Deshaun Watson, JJ Watt and DeAndre Hopkins, did not see the field.Joe Webb saw all the snaps under C for the Texans Thursday night. While he threw two interceptions, Webb did a good job of scrambling and escaping pressureWebb and Tyron Johnson had a bizarre 45-yard connection in which Webb scrambled, and it was essentially a Hail Mary throw.Webb finished with 286 yards on 25/40 with one touchdown and 2 interceptions.Tytus Howard was another talking point for the Texans. Howard showed his quickness and the ability to play multiple positions. It is possible the rookie could be starting for the Texans on opening day against the Jaguars.Star multi-position player Keke Coutee left the game in what appeared to be an ankle injury. He was helped off the field and ultimately carted to the locker room. The severity of Coutee's injury is unknown. In off-the-field news, the Texans acquired running back Duke Johnson from the Cleveland Browns.Johnson played college football at the University of Miami, and will be another backfield threat for the Texans.Catching out of the backfield is a strength for Johnson, and Bailey said that's where he can drive with quarterback Deshaun Watson.

What's on Randy's mind in Week 1 of preseason? Questions remain on O-line, in secondary

1 pick Tytus Howard the future left tackle or will he remain at left guard? Is the left tackle even on this roster? The wide receiver corps is outstanding with DeAndre Hopkins, Will Fuller IV and Keke Coutee. Fuller is your deep threat, Coutee works the slot and that will take a lot of pressure off of Hopkins. Let's see how it all plays out Thursday night and I'll have a new list next week.

Four Observations From the Houston Texans' First Practice In Pads

On Saturday morning, we got two things that we hadn't seen thus far at Houston Texans training camp. Fortunately, the Texans were playing in pads, which is roughly ten to 15 times more entertaining than seeing them work in shells. However, with Miller expected to be solid, if unspectacular, and Foreman appearing to be in outstanding shape, the Texans may be okay. For what it's worth, undrafted rookie Karan Higdon had some pep in his step in the 11-on-11 position of practice. I think hes really working to get better.

TEXANS TRAINING CAMP NOTEBOOK: Pads go on for first time Saturday

HOUSTON - Significant news and happenings on Saturday as the Texans held their third day of training camp. Saturday's big momentsThe big moment of Saturday mornings practice was just the simple fact that the pads went on for the first time this training camp. Its still only day three overall for training camp, so the sounds of pads crashing together was still somewhat muted, but as the players and coaches say all the time, practicing without pads isnt real football. So it was real for the first time on the outdoor practice fields at the Methodist Training Center. 1 overall selection David Carr on the Texans' all-time list for career touchdown passes.

5 burning questions as Houston Texans enter training camp

Training camp has arrived and the Texans are ready to get to work back here in H-Town after spending the past two camps in West Virginia. As is with any team, the Texans enter camp with some question marks. Here are the five burning questions facing the Texans as the whistle blows on training camp. Also, watch out for rookie Lonnie Johnson, whom the Texans drafted out of Kentucky in the second round in May. So there ya have it -- five burning questions entering camp, and really there could have been close to 10 but well stop there for now.
