Photos show plenty of people flocked to beaches, but not a lot of social distancing or masks
Photos and video of Memorial Day weekend celebrations across the US showed plenty of people going to the beach and gathering on boardwalks, but not a lot of social distancing or masks. The event had already been heavily promoted on social media and large crowds still descended on the city bringing chaos in their wake. Aerial videos of the large crowd show people tightly packed together with no social distancing practices apparent. In Texas, four parks in Travis County closed after reaching capacity, according to CNN affiliate KEYE. In Playa Del Rey, California, the beach wasn't packed but cyclists made good use of the path with masks to boot.

Man drowns after boat ride with friends on Lake Conroe during Memorial Day weekend
HOUSTON – The body of a man was found in Lake Conroe Saturday afternoon, according to Montgomery County Precinct 1. Investigators said around 4 p.m., a group of friends was on a boat just off East Beach on Lake Conroe. Montgomery County Precinct 1 Lake Patrol unit responded along with the Game Wardens, Conroe Fire, and NMC Fire. However, the Montgomery County Commissioners Court approved the purchase of side-scan sonar for the boat. In about an hour, officials said they were able to find the victim’s body in shallow water.

Turner says city wont enforce 25% capacity limit on businesses due to lack of support from state
HOUSTON Mayor Sylvester Turner addressed how the city will go about handling businesses who violate the governors orders ahead of Memorial Day weekend. Turner said the city has been hit with two lawsuits from handing out citations to businesses who were not following Gov. He said if the governors office would help enforce the orders by having Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission take away permits to serve from violating businesses, that will help protect the city. Pea said the department will monitor and provide information to businesses violating the orders. Turner said Wade has not been in City Hall for two months since battling the virus.
