Post Malone owns Billboard Awards, Legend shines onstage

Garth Brooks accepted the Icon Award from Cher, who called the country star โa true music legend and my friend Garth Brooks." Guitar rock legend Eddie Van Halen, who died last week, was honored as the show aired a clip of his Billboard Awards performance from 2015. This yearโs Billboard Awards were originally supposed to take place in April but were postponed because of the pandemic.

Sundance Nowโs true crime drama โDesโ stars David Tennant (โDoctor Whoโ) as Dennis Nilsen, a serial killer who targeted young men, including the homeless. The three-part โDes,โ debuting Thursday on the streaming service, was a recent U.K. TV hit and drew raves for Tennantโs performance.
Killer Mike to earn Change Maker Award at Billboard Awards
NEW YORK โ Grammy-winning rapper and social-political activist Killer Mike will receive the first Billboard Change Maker Award at the 2020 Billboard Music Awards. Atlanta-born Killer Mike first made waves in music with his appearance on Outkast's 2000 album, โStankonia." But Killer Mike has made noise outside of music, too. Last year he hosted Netflix's โTrigger Warning with Killer Mike," a 2019 documentary series about issues affected the Black community. The Billboard Change Maker Award will be presented by Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms at the African American Panoramic Experience Museum in Atlanta.

Black police officers who saw the footage "let out a sigh of disgust and abandonment right there, Richards said. The National Black Police Association was blunt in its assessment of Floyd's death and how law enforcement has historically treated black citizens. Police work in the U.S. has been challenging for black officers since the beginning.
Celebs take to streets for historic demonstrations
Across the U.S., many celebrities have been doing far more than tweeting supportive words or issuing carefully prepared statements. They took to the streets alongside thousands of people to condemn the killings of black people at the hands of police and to demand reform. The video shows Sampson step in front of his assistant and an officer hit him at least twice with a baton. Then an officer aims straight at me, no ricochet, and shoots (rubber bullets) Sampson wrote. Everyone is angry but there is a way to direct that anger, actor/director Taika Waititi wrote on Twitter on Saturday.
Protests over police killings rage in dozens of US cities
In Washington, the National Guard was deployed outside the White House, where chanting crowds taunted law enforcement officers. In Salt Lake City, protesters defied a curfew and National Guard troops were deployed by Utahs governor. Muhammad said she sympathized with peaceful protests over Floyds death but disagreed with the violence: Wrong doesnt answer wrong." Overnight curfews were imposed in more than a dozen major cities nationwide, including Atlanta, Denver, Los Angeles, Minneapolis and Seattle. Governors in Georgia, Kentucky, Ohio and Texas also activated the National Guard after protests there turned violent.
